Lol. Lebron is insignificant when it comes to Jordan. They are worlds apart. It's like the Jordan debate with LeBron and others. Jordan nuthuggers (cough cough Jod) think it's blasphemy to say LeBron is better than him....when he is. See the problem????
Oh... haha. I didnt know that. I highly doubt we sell him. He's highly rated at Liverpool.Oh, it's a permanent deal they're trying.

Tightasses.I one zillion percent want Messi. But we cant afford like 20 million for Thiago so Messi is a pipedream. There is only one place he ends up and it's at City.
This needs it's own thread.Jordan is better than Messi. Yeh, I said it.
Meh, Bradman is better than both.Jordan is better than Messi. Yeh, I said it.
Anything in the Rogic / Duffy swap story?
Goes without saying but I’ll say it anyway...this will be a massive blow to Barca and La Liga.
And as epl opposition fan you would hope your team is scheduled to play his team later in the season at your home ground when crowds are allowed in.
I don’t think Martinez will fit well with Greizmann, both that second striker that play off a number 9 type.Depends. If Barca can get top talent like Martinez from Inter plus rejig their team to properly accommodate the likes of Griezmann / Coutinho could see them come out better. A 200m sake kf Messi is a win for them IMO
I think any team that would be prepared to spend 200m on what is effectively a short term toy are pretty desperate for relevance and who knows how Messi copes with culture shock after knowing nothing other than Barcelona for 20 years. Its a huge risk with the wages he is on and his age for a PL team and not appropriate either with the ongoing pandemic.
To me signing Messi only makes sense if you can get him for free and he accepts wages inline with the other top earners in your squad. Bring it on in that case.
Come back to us when he is pictured drinking Victorian wine..

Some good discussion in last few posts.
I wonder how much Messi is worth to a club and league from a revenue point of view? Yes may come with costly fee but gees the marketing/mechandise/exposure rights etc you would think would be massive for those 3 years. And at same time a blow to Barca brand.

Spot on, shirt sales are like sugar hit at start, but boost to marketing/sponsorship/brand recognition would be enormous. Probably bigger impact than Ronaldo to Juve as epl so much bigger (and I’m a serie A follower so not meant to bag)shirt sales are a fallacy but marketing wise it's worth a shitload. messi front and centre of every single campaign while he's at the club. sponsors would be absolutely clamouring for a piece, especially in the league with the most eyes on it.
plus i suspect if this deal goes through, and still a big if, sponsors would be chipping in with the fee too like juve had with ronaldo.
barca are absolutely right to do everything possible to hold onto him. they should be demanding his release clause.
