Read on reddit before that they tried to pull the same with Neymar's transfer but we know how that went.

They didn't pull anything like that at all. Buyout clauses must be paid by players themselves are legally binding and written into La Liga rules. The only issue was PSG trying to pay it directly which it cannot do. Neymar's representation eventually paid it themselves and ended his contract.
