Interesting to hear Bale say that he tried to leave Madrid last year but they blocked moves. Also said that he just wants to play.

I guess we don't know how much he was willing to compromise on his contract to get a move, but it does change the perception he's happy to play golf and pick up a pay cheque

Madrid had accepted the free transfer to get him off the books originally. They then decided to ask for one.
