The original rumoured amount was 90m euros (80m) pounds wasn't it? 72m sounds not too far off.
There was talk that Leverkusen would only accept 100m Euros.

Even though we never publicly registered our interest I think that's about as close as we'll ever get to the Messi dream.

In three months time he'll be able to sign a pre contract, in 8 months time he won't need to go through the courts to move. But by then there'll be another election at Barca, and if I don't think Messi left anyone in doubt which way they should vote when that day comes.

Plan was him leaving next year. Would you take him at 34?

I would.

Things couldn't be much worse between him and Barca right now, but a change of board in March (I think) will settle things down.

Our best bet is a pre contract in January before the elections take place.

Hell be 34 though? I think city or any club would be better using the money elsewhere. Heck go for mbappe or something.

Unless he falls off a cliff, Messi at 34 is still better than 99% of the premier league.

The commercial possibilities of having someone like Messi in a City shirt are pretty huge as well.

Mbappe isn't realistic for us imo. Numbers don't stack up and we'll be up against other top clubs. Messi was almost the perfect storm, if he was going to leave Barca it was always going to be to come to us. We laid the groundwork for that over the past decade.
