Yeah, Jose with us always favoured a settled CB pair. Toby and Skriniar would be it.
He chopped and changed at United, even after they bought him Bailly and Lindelof.

Because they were all crap?

Terry and Carvalho first time around then it was Terry and Cahill.

Give him 2 quality CBs and theyll play every week together.

They were nobodies

The inter guy is world class

What was his record like at RM? I can't remember but I assume Varane/ramos mostly were his preferred partnership
He brought Varane in i believe. And he established himself pretty quickly with Ramos and succeeded Albiol (or was it Arbeloa...always forget)

Settled defensive pairing is generally at the heart of most successful teams.
We were excellent with Toby and Jan.

Dias + Skriniar would be f'n amazing as their successors

I'm surprised Wolverhampton would allow dias to escape

Seems perfect for the Portuguese project

Having watched Leeds over the first couple of games and given their manager is something of a genius I would be staggered if they get relegated.

I reckon Leeds will finish in the 9-14 range. They are more than useful. I think they may become a regular fixture in the PL.

Conceding 3 at home to Fulham doesn't seem the work of a genius. He seems pretty concerned with their form.

Let’s say I remain skeptical. Skriniar would give us two good centrehalves and two decent players. Reckon Sanchez and Dier would still see a lot of games.

Im not saying it's good to cop3 goals but it's less significant if you score 4

I suppose you're right on that occasion but I suspect they aren't going to manage 4 each week from the amount of chances they're creating - which is Bielsa's concern.

What makes people think Dias would be cheaper? IIRC he signed a new contract some time this year with a €100m release clause.

If Tottenham won't pony up €60m for Skrinar, why would they be ready to pay more for Dias?
Covid and no CL football this season.

Dias is a bit younger, easier to justify a large fee if it can result in more years of service

Those are potential justifications, but has Benfica actually said or done something that would indicate they'd be willing to negotiate a fee below the release clause?

You could have said the same thing about Napoli, but that hasn't stopped them from not budging on the asking price of KK

He’d be pretty happy with the 3 they put past Liverpool and more importantly the 4 they whacked past Fulham. There are half a dozen sides who are greater relegation threats than Leeds.

And, just so I am clear you are questioning the genius of Marcelo Bielsa? Seriously? On the basis of a home win?

He’s one of the greatest managers alive today. You best do some research.

Our owners have a buy young, develop and then sell while they are in their peak/last contract system. There is no way I expect Salah and mane to both be at Liverpool next season. I'd keep them obviously but owners I think want to sell and then buy and develop another young star. Etc.
What gives you that impression of our owners ?

I'm citing the concerns he himself has brought up, it seems like you're the one questioning his judgement.

I know plenty about him, including the fact that Leeds fell apart two season ago through injuries and exhaustion, and if not for COVID may well have fallen short last season as well. Points on the board early will be key to survival and scraping past a side that looks like they're going straight back down is an interesting start.

Where did you see him bring up those concerns? You watching Leeds press conferences now... :tearsofjoy:
