Strange for Atletico to be furious, they know the La Liga buyout clause rules. If they dont want to lose players in this manner maybe negotiate bigger clauses / higher wages.

Arsenal came to AM to try and bargain and sort something out with money and a player or money over time. AM just kept pointing at the release clause, and I suppose this is how just relying on a release clause and not coming to the table can backfire.
I’m sympathetic in the respect that we’ve pursued him all summer, Atletico have made their position clear And haven’t budged (they have no obligation to), yet we leave it until the last minute to activate the clause.
At least Torreria has gone the other way on loan.

They must have known there was a good chance of him leaving with all the negotiating going on. Would have been much easier if the buyout was shelled out up front at the start of the window instead of going back and forth until finally caving right before the deadline!!

AM would be pissed because of all the discussions between the two clubs, open dialogue on other deals and Arsenal didn't inform them what they were doing, maybe just a courteous thing, end of the day AM refused to sell for under the buyout, leaves them with no time to find a replacement.
