That is a factual statement, which you erroneously tried to correct. Very foolish to correct someone when you're ignorant of the facts. And instead of owning it, you're doubling down.

Me thinks you're spoiling for a pissing contest over which the biggest club is.

I'm not saying that Spurs are bigger than United. I'm not saying they ever were.

All I said is that, for a couple of year period there, we had gone past you in a sporting sense.

Now if you're aiming to compete, what message does it send to your fans if you're selling your talisman to a direct rival? Are we saying that we think we should aim for 5th and call ourselves best of the rest?

Do you honestly think Spurs fans are going to say "oh, fair enough if Kane wants to leave for Man U?". If so, you haven't been paying attention the last eight years.

I'd only ever belittle the trophies to the extent that someone would hang sh1t on Spurs for not winning one. Like finishing 1st in the Europa league outstrips finishing second in the Champions League.

I'm simply giving you the lay of the land as regards Tottenham fandom. Maybe the thought that we don't regard United as particularly special nowadays strikes a raw nerve with you.

But we're not the only ones thinking that. And it's based entirely on recent sporting merit. If you want to call that 'delusional', then go ahead.

Losing the CL isn't better than winning the uefa cup. Don't be shocked if Kane goes to a bigger English fish or elsewhere.

Gone past in the last few years, the last few years Spurs have not gone past United. That is a fact, in the last four seasons you have finished once in front of us, and only once in the last three years and no times in the last two.

Now if you want to say for a tiny one or two year period before that you had gone past United in terms of title challenging/trophy challenging, sure but it was short lived.

I will relent and admit that Spurs have gone past United even recently as being a bigger rock climbing club but that is it.

I mean, it's clearly because you seem to be struggling with a basic concept that being in a more prestigious comp means a club is doing better.

United got the chance to win that trophy because they didn't even finish second in the UCL.

I was talking about the post-Fergie era, an era that coincidentally lines up with Kane's career. Not the last two years.

There's really nothing to choose between the two clubs during that time. At one point we were ahead of you. Now you're ahead of us.

The point is the perception that selling a player to a direct rival - who we were ahead of as recently as three years ago - because he wants to win trophies creates is an ugly one for the selling club.

How did United dominate English football for 20 years? By selling players to your closest competitors? Off the top of my head the only one you lost that hurt was Ronaldo to Real Madrid. The moment you start selling your best players to direct competitors is the moment you embrace mediocrity.

Not because Arsenal haven't been a successful club, but because they're clearly not what they were. Even if they have won a couple of FA cups of late.
