First of all I’m not claiming Leeds to have one of the best defences but this stat is old news and only relevant to first half of the year when in a few games we conceded quite a few when we had a few key cbs injured. We only conceded 19 goals second half of the year

Last 11 games we conceded just 8 goals and that included games against 5 of the ‘big 6’. The return of Llorente and improvement in Struijk made a big difference. I’d say our defence is now underrated

One word for our defence: solid. It’s not out of this world good, but the fact that people who don’t watch Leeds are willing to throw stats out, without context, shows they have no idea.

There isn't, just seemed a very odd post to bring back up.

I guess but it just became official recently.

Everything is agreed club to club, the fee is a guaranteed £50m, the second-highest transfer fee exchanged for an English centre-back, £30m of that will be paid within one year for Brighton and then two more payments of £10m in following seasons,” Duncan Castles.

if you look at a random section like the more valuable DMs, I don't think it's a wildly off the mark resource

If Varane defends for United like he did for France at the Euro’s, he’ll be referred to as the French Phil Jones within weeks

Harsh!

But if there was a thread for Premier League expensive flops then United signings would feature prominently. Kleberson, Veron, Di Maria, Sanchez, Forlan, Falcao, Depay, Schneiderlin, Bebe.

Fergie admitted to never seeing him play. Plenty of brown envelopes full of cash on that deal.

But yeah, if you count 7m as nothing then how about the others?
I would have thought it was evident that given I didn't make mention of those in my post that I agreed with you.

Though not sure you can really count Falcao.

Seems like you're just plucking whatever names come into your head.

Kleberson as 6.5 mil and Forlan was 6.9 mil need to check your facts first.

Apparently Alexis Sanchez was on £560,000 a week then got a £9 million kiss off. He was an expensive flop.

Well, no doubt. He was shit towards the end at Arsenal and throughout his time at United. I think he’s done a bit better at Inter but nowhere close to his best at Arsenal.

On Falcao.

Manchester United effectively paid £4m for every Radamel Falcao goal, analysis of the Colombian's spell at Old Trafford shows.
It was widely reported that Manchester United paid Monaco £6m for the privilege of bringing the striker in on loan. They then had to pay his wages. There is some discrepancy over just how much United were paying, with claims than Monaco could have been topping up Falcao's bank balance each month to ensure he didn't lose out by going on loan. £265,000-a-week is the most widely reported figure United were paying - and with Falcao staying at the club for 37 weeks, the total outlay on wages would have been £9.8m.
That means the total outlay on bringing Falcao to Old Trafford was £15.8m.
