For a professional, yes. Any free transfer would have to be Barcelona signing Messi as a 13 year old.

Then there is Real Madrid buying Cristiano Ronaldo for a world record fee and it turning out to be an absolute bargain of a fee to the point where it was just giving him away.
At the time though 80 mil back 12 years ago would've been like 300-400 mil now.

I thought jod23 was the only pool fan to compare every player or stat to a pool player.

Also no Milner is not a better free transfer than lewa.

She was telling us big transfers wouldn't happen this window.

"None of the big time players are moving this summer. Sancho, Haaland, Mbappe, Mane, Salah etc... it would cost eye watering money to get a player like that and no club is in a situation to make it happen given Covid."

One down, liverpool exodus next?

The news brings to an end a year-long transfer saga after United refused to meet Dortmund’s £109m valuation of Sancho last summer. United will now turn their attention to trying to sign a new centre-half, with Real Madrid’s Raphael Varane their priority target. Varane has entered the final 12 months of his contract at Real and would like to pursue a new challenge. United have been hit hard financially by the coronavirus pandemic and any more signings after a potential centre-half purchase may hinge on the success the club has offloading players and the future of Paul Pogba. Pogba has entered the final 12 months of his contract at Old Trafford and is being linked with Paris St-Germain and Juventus.

I feel sorry for Atalanta lack of special relationship

“I have great respect for everything that Atalanta are doing, but without international history and thanks to just one great season, they had direct access into the primary European club competition. Is that right or not?

“Then I think of AS Roma, who contributed in recent years to maintaining Italy’s ranking. They had one bad season and are out, with all the consequent damage to them financially.

“We must also protect investment and costs. So would Atalanta therefore have less chance of playing at a high level? I don’t have the answer to that, it’s just about setting up a transparent process to make this decision.

“There are teams who won the league or cup and achieve qualification just on the basis of their country’s ranking. The point is how we balance the contribution to European football and the performance of a single year.
