Not many clubs hence why he is being offered around. With players like Griezmann, Barca may have to pay some of his wages. Lets say he is on £400k per week, quite a few clubs would take him on if Barca paid half his wage. It is what United had to do to get rid of Alexis Sanchez.

When Barca swapped Arthur for Pjanic, everyone knew there was something wrong. Nobody knew how bad it was though. Can't believe they have waited until now, when everyone knows they are f’ed, to offload players when they could have done it quietly 12-18 months ago. Now it is a firesale situation.
They have been* (or in the case of some**, have been trying), but they are coming from such a high base in terms of wages that they have basically had to halve their wage bill

*Its a large part of why they basically gave away Suarez and Vidal last summer
** They've been trying to get rid of Umtiti for about 2 years, but he keeps rejecting any offers from elsewhere because nobody can match his salary

Reports say, grez 800k euro wage per week, goes to 900k, this season.

Big money if they are true.

Salaries from last season apparently - p/w

Lionel Messi - £1,224,000.
Antoine Griezmann - £795,000

fair enough

FWIW (which is not much, the source is effectively like the Daily Mail)

Reckon that's bullshit unless Barca are paying most of the wage. City and Chelsea won't want to destroy their wage structure for him. United don't need him and everyone else bar Everton are crying poor.

Our highest earner, Mo and VVD are on around 200-220K a week. Just no chance we could afford Griezmann, not that we'd be interested anyways, he's a bit meh.

And here lies the problem. Let's Suarez leave and replaces him with Aguero. Back to square one.

They are a stupidly run club.

and plays in a position where most teams are pretty well covered

Zach Lowy] - Correction: Barcelona need to lower their wage bill by €200 million, not €200,000. I took 'kilos' to mean thousands as in a kilogram; I didn't realize it was used as slang in Spain for million. Apologies for the confusion and mistranslation.

Only 12 hours late on that one, Sandra Sully.

I think that's a bit ambitious by us, should probably wait until next year in the PL before signing him.
