Real can want what they like. Varane has one year left on his deal and doesn't want to be there.

At the Arsenal, he's been a witches hat until Arteta came along and got the best out of him which was not that great of an improvement. When Partey played, Xhaka looked OK but when Partey was not there, Xhaka looked like .... well ....Xhaka! He's an up-and-down player, like Kolasanic, that is, when they need to go 90 degrees on any side, they are not capable and whilst he would be OK/good in a team where that is what he is expected to do, Arsenal are looking to evolve way past that one dimensional style of play and that's why Mourinho wants him, because he fits Mourinho's game style and will be good in Italy where buses, even double deckers sometimes, are parked in front of 'keepers.

By the way, I do not watch or participate in the twatosphere and if Xhaka is our best passer of the ball, no wonder we aren't doing that well at Arsenal.
