Does Uniteds defence have to actually win something before we start claiming they are better than defences that have won UCLs and Premiership titles?

I think you are buying the right players nowadays(not sure Ole is doing your scounting), but i dont think Ole manages a great style and his results in bigger games(like knock out tiers/cup finals) isnt great.

Your own fan are split 50/50 on him

Nice addition though Chef, but the point is you're taking umbrage at Bojan in your eyes not appreciating what Tuchel is doing yet you give much more about Ole when it's clear as day he has improved the club. Maybe credit where credit is due.

Varane has won 4 UCL titles. The only comparable premier league centre half's to him are pre injury VVD and Dias.

He is very much rooted in the scouting dept and the overall football dept. He is the one choosing the targets and the club is buying them. When he has United on they were near unplayable last season, but even then it was clear as day that the club desperately needed a CB to partner Maguire (who for some reason is still be heavily underrated on here) and a RW. I agree he has no excuses for this upcoming campaign, we must be challenging and winning a trophy.

I am writing off United because Sancho and Varane haven’t won the Premier League since Ferguson was at the club.

Ive said already i think he'll be a good signing, be these other groups have achieved stuff. I'd ratger wait for results first but thats just me.

What's the statute of limitations on being a good defence from winning things? Why is Liverpool so highly rated when without one player last season the defence crumbled?

Bit of a cop-out isn't it?

According to people on here United were trash last season with a crap manager, but finished second whilst being so crap, add a WC CB and RW with more to come and apparently that means they are still not as good as 3-4 other teams and will only drop further.

Yet those other teams that under-performed last season are just seen as blips who'll easily recover and leapfrog back ahead
