Why is it too far? What's fundamentally flawed about Harrison that he couldn't become one of the best players in the world at City?

Point being that so many of these big clubs are fundamentally lazy in player development and would rather loan out/sell off their talent then buy ready made players at hiked up fees. Foden is almost the exception that proves the rule at City.

Because he’s nowhere near as good as Grealish? That’s why they just sold him for peanuts and are about to break their transfer record for Grealish.

thats what the post says doesnt it? i dont watch nearly as much football as i used to

Fair enough guess I'm just surprised, if my club had a player out on loan at another PL club and was supposedly doing quite well, I'd have at least watched highlights/the odd game to see how he was going.

in the last couple of seasons i would barely have watched a game that didnt involve city

8g 8a for Harrison 6g 10a for Grealish, with Grealish as the centrepiece for Villa and Harrison as one of several key cogs for Leeds. I think being the talisman for Villa has inflated people's opinions of Grealish just a tad and don't think he'd have the same impact at City. Don't think there's 89m difference between the two but fair enough if you do.

i mean if he's being put in the same bracket as sancho contract lengths play a part too. grealish signed through to 2025 while sancho was 2023? and looking to move

Sancho is 5 years his junior and comes from Dortmund. Id expect he would cost more even considering the contract lengths.

That's actually a decent stat to bring to the table.

Didn't you just sell Harrison to Leeds for 11m when he could have developed into a similar if not better player?

Could he?

Good signing for Leeds if that's the case and a big missed opportunity for all the other clubs

Harrison played 10 more games. Funny you left that out. But that’s what happens when you rely solely on stats to perform analysis.

just more evidence as to how lazy and lacking this forum has become.

created 4 more ‘big chances’ in 12 less games.

anyway, done discussing this. It’s dumb. Enjoy.

On Grealish. He is a marvel. He is one of a kind (style/type) and it has been an absolute joy to watch him at Villa and thankful that he has been loyal to Villa for as long as he has.

So much football is about pace and power these days but his elegance/grace and control with the ball at his feet can make even the most boring game bearable.

Have not even close to seen a better player at Villa and no matter what happens he won’t leave on bad terms with fans.

Before getting injured last season he was second favourite to win player of the year for those who are comically scoffing at his valuation and ability. But it really doesn’t matter. People will stick by their pre-conceptions because that’s just what they do..
Calm the boat mate, nothing to scoff at a £70m midfielder…people here know he’s good player.

Was just suggesting there isn't 89m between them, wasn't suggesting they're the same player this season. Chillax.

So much this. Not sure why Apollo is getting so worked up about nobody rating Grealish as a £100m player. Harrison was a fee agreed years ago, thats why his fee of £11m is so low. Grealish is obviously a far better player but not 89m better like you say. IMO par value for Grealish is around the 60m mark and about 20-25 mark for Harrison (only a year left on contract).

After his first loan with Leeds, City were asking for 20m, I find it hard to believe he's somehow gone down in value, when instead it's just his contract running down.

Think there's a few on here who haven't watched much of Harrison, if anything, given the incredulity that he's actually a decent player. He's not Grealish right now as you say, but they're not worlds apart as those fees suggest. Surprising that this seems to primarily be the resident City fans.

I thought I read somewhere the fee was agreed at the end of the loan. I guess they probably paid a few loan fees as well.

Who are you referring to in particular?
