I'm still not entirely sure what the story is.

He is on a fairly big contract (somewhere around €200k/week) but until these stories about him potentially going on loan to Chelsea, most of the rumours seemed to be coming from his agent, not the club (or even the player really). I don't think the club wants to get rid of him, in part because its rare to have an academy player that love his club so much that he'd sign a 9 year contract, but it is somewhat hard to justify paying someone that salary when he isn't a nailed on starter

Saul started 42 games - the most games outside of koke, savic, llorente, Correa.

in a side that beat rm and Barca.

It's not like he is no where near the 11

Saúl is set to leave Atléti. Chelsea opened talks for Saúl days ago. There’s official bid now on the table - loan with buy option. 🔵 #CFC Also Manchester United have asked for Saúl again in the last 24 hours, he’s in the list with Camavinga. 🔴 #MUFC He’s ready for PL move.

United and Chelsea both made their offer to Saul, they also satisfied Atletico's conditions (loan fee plus option to but for €42-47M). Now Saul will decide. [José David López, Cadena Ser, RTVE]

Offered on loan? Something not right that AM seemingly want to get rid.
This. Used to love Saul as a player but I query why he has been so aggressively marketed around Europe by his agent and/or club this summer. Is there something they know about him that we don't. Seems to good to be true to me.

Thierry Small any good?
Traitorous tool.

Academies are there to serve the English National teams rather than the clubs anymore unless you're a top top club, your players just go where they might get a quicker game/more money.

Where did you get that number? A third of the league appearances were off the bench

I might have been misreading it as in the swauad tbh. Or total games played (sub or starter)

He played a fair bit still and lost his spot to lemar iirc who looked pretty good and cost like 80m.

On a small sample size eye test am look like a very strong team last season

I still cant believe we havent bought a midfielder or attacking player. Why are we so broke?!
Because you would rather win the net spend arguments on big footy?

He was ok, wasn't given a chance by Silva. Looked good in Champions League despite only playing in Russia.
Yeah it seems like he's done well for Moscow. Apparently he has a good workrate so would appeal to Moyes that way.

I think we don't want to pay 25M for Lingard, so the club is exploring alternatives still.
