Why would Rice go to United? They’re a step down from West Ham these days.

So what happens now if someone goes from Spurs to United? Sideways step? :p
Yep sideways, Arsenal to United would still be a step up though

I think it would make more sense for United to stop bringing in players and making them captain straight away.

Maguire doesn’t have leadership in his bones, we are super thin with proper leaders at the club, I can only think of Bruno & DDG, I don’t think Ronaldo would make a good captain.

Rice strikes me as a solid future leader at a big club. I wouldn’t have us sign him and give it to him straight away, but after a certain period I’m sure it would appear very quickly to the club the leadership traits he has, also depends if he wants it as well.

Declan Rice to United and most likely being captain makes wayyyyy to much sense, so in saying that, zero chance it happens.
Why everyone trying to make Rice your captain, you already have the best leader in world football in Maguire as your captain.

I'd take him back at cut price. He is what we are missing in that midfield and what Iwobi doesn't do. He at least wants to get on the ball and drive forward. Ok he's not world class but he's still PL level.

I wouldn't mind Rice at Liverpool. Our midfielders are breaking down on a regular basis. If it was a choice between Rice and Bellingham for the same $$$ I'd pick Rice every day of the week. At least Rice is proven in the EPL.

United had their chance to sign Rice in the summer and they chose Sancho instead, simple as that.

I asked a while back if Rice was worth 100M and a lot of people said no because he wasn't an attacker, do people feel the same way now based on what he's shown this season?

West Ham were going to sell Rice after the Euro’s?

70-80m

No that's not true at all. United were quoted a price they weren't willing to spend at the time, Sancho was always coming.

Yep, no one was paying £100M at that time. West Ham would have known the clubs that might have been interested weren’t going to spend £100M. Next summer is a different story though.

They could have not bought Sancho for what they spent on him and spent 100M on Rice instead though is my point.

United's choice that they didn't want to pay that and buy Sancho for a little bit less.

We were chasing Sancho for two years and got his cost down by a nice amount, I think if we were successful in some sales (Lingard and co) we would have discussed Rice.

Don't be fooled by the fact Ole is a ****wit who hasn't been playing Sancho, we desperately needed a RW as much as a midfielder.

Still think he's worth £70-80m, but with what someone like Grealish went for Hammers would be asking £120-150m.

How long left on his contract?

I’m hoping that United, City and Chelsea all clamour for Rice so we can get a relatively free run at Bellingham.

Not sure that will matter much, still going to cost 75+.

Lingard + 20m.
