Definitely at the beginning of the transfer window, for a few weeks, we were confident we would be FDJ. But then it turned into a running joke and even we knew it wasn’t happening.

Surely there would have been a sell on clause included in the agreement in case Barca flip him short term which they have now gone and done. Otherwise they make a clear 14m profit after owning him for half a season which by itself counts as a lever activation!!

Yes I recall Arsenal were wanting to sell him in January, however it was a case of who would blink first and in the closing hours of deadline day then Arsenal agreed to terminate his contract. Thus Barca signed him for free, which was largely then due to Arteta's desire to exit him from the club.
