Actually in doing research for that, looks like his WC appearances for us means he can get a work permit so can go on loan to the Championship or Scottish Premier League. Wonder if he'd even get minutes in the FA Cup for Toon. I actually wondered at the time if the WC appearances might work in his favour.

I dunno, he's just made two appearances at the WC where he didn't look too bad, I don't think minutes off the bench would be out of the realm of possibility. But getting more game time in the Championship or League One will be better for him. Would be happy for us to try to get him.

Looked fairly raw to me, hasn’t played much football here and will take time just to get used to the conditions. Lower divisions definitely the go.

It's not easy to win the epl these days, good risk even without buy option.

Option to buy with the 15 already spent coming off the total transfer fee seems fair. But if there is no option to buy, you're paying 15 million for a 6 month rental.

In both Arsenal and United cases, if you pay that you better hope you win the league or finish top four.

At least Arsenal can look forward to the probable CL income but United, it's a gamble.

Its not just the loan fee, it’s the wages too. On face value doesn’t seem the type of transaction that Arteta would be warm to. I think Mendes has been tasked with shopping around his client for the best outcome for them and Atletico. Those figures would come down the longer it drags out during January.
