I get bringing in players to improve the squad but Boehly is ******* nuts.

The money being spent is just absurd.
€600m in a season is utterly ****ed.

I think it's generally hyperbole to say 'X club is ruining football' but this is the closest I've seen to it.

Honestly think it's time spending is capped at something.

Ironically, Newcastle are killing it this season and yet haven't had to drop half a billion to do it. Maybe Chelsea would be better off investing in the background rather that just pissing money up the wall.

Yep. Wages should be capped at around 60% of turnover. Transfer spending should be limited to a maximum of 100m net per season and an average of 60m net per season over 4 seasons.

A rule like that would really benefit Liverpool and the 2 manchester clubs a lot more than everyone else.

Name a more iconic duo, I’ll wait.

There may as well be a setting where he automatically thumbs down his posts as soon as he hits reply.

Yeah. He better be good.

It’s a weird one. Enzo got sold to Benfica for €10 million last June. He played 23 matches for Benfica. Played every match at the World Cup. And is now getting sold for £105 million. For all we know, he could be ****ing shit who put in some decent performances at the World Cup.

Hard and fast rules like that will never work.

The new James.
Chelsea seemed to only have interest because Enzo started most most matches at the World Cup and played well. If you’re paying £105 million for a player, usually you have been tracking the player for months and up to a year but if that’s the case, then Chelsea could have bought Enzo last June for a fraction of the cost. But they weren’t even in for Enzo back then, he seemingly slipped under anyones radar and now here we are. Incredibly odd.

I thought they did try to buy him from South America but couldn't sort it because of their takeover?

Hes was talked about before the WC TBH.

I was thinking more like a luxury tax.

Something where you spend over a certain threshold, you're taxed at 'x%'. Send those payments into grass roots.

Thanks for the correction guys.

How maddening then that Chelsea had a chance to sign him for little cost and couldn’t.

Yeah I remember his name being linked in the preseason.

River plate have done alright. Sold him for €15m in the summer and then will get a 3rd of the fee we just payed to Benfica.

This story has him going to Benfica for £8.7m, then before the WC has his value rising to around £43m.

Was described as a cheaper alternative to Jude Bellingham. Fernandez had a release clause of £107.3m (€120m). That figure was purely there to put off interested suitors but it was speculated that a figure around half that fee could be enough to tempt Benfica to sell.

The €270m in the offseason took them from 3rd to 10th

Maybe the €330m they spent in January will take them from 10th to 18th

Who knew that the supposed charity where the proceeds of the Chelsea 2.5bn sale were allocated to was actually Chelsea's new transfer warchest!
