Has been an open secret for a while. De Jong has been deferring wages for 2 years now and was in line to earn 15m+ euros for each of the next 2 years. Further to this, Barca haven't paid Frenkies agent his commission from his transfer from Ajax to Barca.
Joke of a club and shouldn't be allowed to operate this way.

Read yesterday that Bayern are demanding the whole 40m upfront if they sell them Lewy because they don't think Barca will be around in two years.

If he only has 12 months left you're actually paying a little overs.
City have done good business. Haaland and Alvarez for Jesus and Sterling for roughly a net zero cost when you consider transfer and agent fees.
They also owe Pique and Busquests a combined 60 million euro too.

I don't think we could expect a whole lot more for Sterling than what we're reported to be getting.
Last year of contract, was looking for a move etc.
A lot depends on the size and makeup of the addons. But even at £45m I think its worth the sale rather than hold on for a season and lose on a free.
If a deal is done (I think it will be but not 100% that it's as close as is being briefed) it's sure going to be weird seeing him in Chelsea colours.

Dunno, there's a bit of talk about game time so maybe that. He played as much as most of our forwards last season but tended to be on the bench in the bigger games.
So maybe that, or just maybe just time for a change. Things still seem to be pretty amicable between him and the club.
