Salah looks like a player who can perform at a world class level until his mid 30s.

Did he score many open play goals in the league in the second half of the season? Just the one against Wolves?

Despite the obvious trust in the scouting team and decision-makers when it comes to transfers, I can't shake the feeling that Nunez is the riskiest purchase of the Klopp era. I'm not convinced he's going to be the 20+ goals in the league striker that we need him to be. That twitter thread posted by chef has me spooked.

To me it could be argued there is a bit of desperation about the move. Missing out on the big two trophies, Mane leaving and City signing Haaland... I'd be surprised if we have had this transfer in the works for 12/18 months like most of our business.
Yeah I'm worried about it also and I also think people are taking Mane for granted. Mane and Salah either side has been enormous for us for the past 5-6 years. Nunez obviously isnt the Mane replacement though, that's Diaz but I'm not sold on him becoming a 20 goals a season scorer like Mane has been from the left.

Nunez will give us something different and I assume play down the middle but he's not the finished article by any stretch and only has one good season in the books and that was in Portugal, not exactly the top level.

But I do trust the recruitment team and Klopp so hopefully it all works out. We rarely miss in the transfer market and we never miss when we have outlaid large amounts. Let's hope that continues.

He did spend a month away at AFCON to be fair.

Ok and the games he played once back from AFCON?

Mane was at AFCON too and he managed a few more when he returned.

Salah was in poor form by the end of the season, he looked completely gassed. Hopefully the rest does him well here and no WC mid season either, I'd say he will be back with a bang next season for sure.

Mo will be fine. He's a fitness freak, like Ronaldo, he has like a whole set up at home to keep his body in prime condition, he's also a bit of a maniac competitively, always wants to win, score the most goals possible, be successful. So he's mega talented, hugely driven and looks after his body religiously.

I think Mo will be top player well into his 30's. Whether he does that at Liverpool remains to be seen, which unfortunately I dont think he will.

In the early morning hours of this Monday (0:44 am), Sport Lisboa e Benfica – Futebol, SAD informed the Securities Market Commission (CMVM) that it had reached an agreement with Liverpool FC for the sale of all rights to the player Darwin Nuñez, for the amount of 75 million euros.
To the CMVM, Benfica's SAD also informed that "the agreement provides for the payment of a variable remuneration, so the global amount of the sale could reach the amount of 100 million euros".
"It is further informed that the aforementioned agreement is dependent on the signing of the player's sports employment contract with Liverpool FC", it is further explained in the official document.

From what I could find

In their press release, Lyon say that Ndombele was one of the principal transfers that brought in money, with the Frenchman moving to Spurs for €47.6million.

That figure equates to around £42million at the current rate of exchange and would have been around £42.5million in July, when he signed.

Would be ideal he signs scores 9 league goals and we win the league. But he ain't scoring 9 league goals in a successful spurs season.
I don’t care for your view on the matter. Haven’t got a clue.

So you reckon Salah is about to experience a significant decline? How many open play goals does he average over the next 3 seasons in the league? 5? 10?

It was just a question.

Ok and the games he played once back from AFCON?

Mane was at AFCON too and he managed a few more when he returned.

Salah scored in open play against Norwich, Man U (x2) and Wolves post-AFCON, as well as against Inter in the Champions League R16. But yep, he was poor by his standards, whereas Mane’s productivity improved.

Guess it'll be interesting to see if it's an issue of fatigue and he can get back to his early season form, but really he had an amazing first half of the season and a rather poor second half.
