It's been clinical hasn't it. Used tried and tested targets last year apart from Emerson and Gil. And no surprise they're ones Conte has likely moved on from

This is Glazer 101 deal. Target player for weeks who you know you have no chance of getting and who you dont really want to pay for anyway. Give 'hope' to the fans thinking this time you may actually sign 'Player X'. When the deal falls through you can make it appear like you really tried and it is not your fault. Panic sign a spud for overs, rinse and repeat.

I suspect we have a few targets in mind but are waiting on the de Jong deal as it will be the biggest move we make by far.

Unfortunately I don't see that being wrapped up quickly either. Barca are obviously trying to get maximum value but the whole world knows how desperate they are to sell so I expect there will be a lot of haggling here. Frustrating but its the smart move to be patient.

A lot has been made about de Jong's reluctance to leave Barca but I don't blame him at all. Feels very similar to the situation Collingwood put Treloar through.

I'm not saying that our transfer business in the Woodward era hasn't been mostly farcical but TBF I don't actually recall an example of the above happening since Moyes' first season where we spent the summer publicly chasing Thiago & Fabregas, only to settle for Fellaini at the last minute (lol). In fact in recent years we've actually waited for big targets like Sancho and Maguire rather than resorting to last minute panic buys when the first attempts failed.

Not sure we're at the back of the bus, working on a very big high profile move for FDJ also moves for Timber, Antony, Eriksen, Malacia and Torres all at least being inquired on or offers made. Couple of other names have been mentioned as well.

Always linked to a million players but there is a solid list of about a dozen that we have interest in.

Reckon once FDJ is sorted we'll have a flurry of signings to follow. Or we'll miss out on everyone and be relegated.
