Laporta is an idiot. He is screwing the club long term selling the TV rights. They have sold 25% of their TV rights for the next 25 years to Private Equity. They are getting 600m euros now with the 25% of TV rights over the next 25 years being worth at least 1.25B euros. They have to use half of that 300m euros to pay down debt so are left with 300m euros to sign players. What are they going to do next year? Sell more TV rights????

The other deal they are trying to do is sell their licensing over their merchandise globally.

It's shortsighted madness.

There are a lot of moving parts but in theory they could go under if strict rules were applied to them. Amusingly, something like Financial Fair Play should be stopping this kind of thing.

They have total liabilities of circa £1.3 billion which includes £1B of bank debt and £300m of deferred transfer fees and deferred wages) and a facility they can draw down on of a further £1.5 billion to revamp the stadium and other facilities.

Laporta has been talking about refinancing the debt with Goldman Sachs but that most likely means they have stretched the term out, not reduced the debt size.

Barca estimated the cost of the pandemic to be 91m euros so that isn't the reason they are in the shit per se. If they missed out on the Champions League for a season or two I could see them going the way of Valencia quite quickly.

no, they havent. other than a couple of barca b players/youngsters no major business has been done, and there is no indication yet as to whether they can even register kessie and christensen. loaning out trincao and putting a 10 mil obligation to buy means a 20mil loss, plus i doubt sporting can cover all his wages. what do they do with pjanic, also on high wages? same as umtiti, where is he going to get 4 years at the money he's on?

they can only do anything if de jong moves out, he is really the only guy 23-26 years old with any value. and they're only getting back around what they paid ajax for him, probably less after repayments on the original fee. but if he refuses to go, what are they going to do?

umtiti failed the medical otherwise he'd be gone. Pjanic is a bad contract, yeah.

Demeble seems to have signed on unders and the new players are taking less to come in like Lwski. I think the likes of Garcia are in reasonable contracts

SRoberto signed a very small contract to stay too.

I do agree de jong is likely gone and they need him off the books. If he refuses to go (and doesn't agree to a pay cut...) They will have to pay him his wages and deferred cash .
