With all the super nice people on here who regularly let their employer withhold money from them, you have to wonder why FDJ wants his €17M so much.

Guess it depends on how he is owed the wages, it's legal to re-negotiate wages which a large amount of players did but a lot did with the agreement to receive higher wages down the line and bonuses. I think a lot of the FDJ wage issue is for what will be owed as a bonus and future wage so if he leaves Barca would probably be confident in winning that court case. So negotiate now for a payoff for wages already given up.

If it's about future wages surely he's better off getting his agent to negotiate a better deal at his new club and getting the hell out of dodge. Why hang around somewhere where you feel you aren't getting paid properly if they have given the ok for you to leave (reported that Barca & Utd have agreed a transfer fee)?

It just seems that FDJ doesn't seem in a big hurry to leave Barca.

Mind you, winning a European championship before most of us were born doesn't/shouldn't make them big really. There's history there clearly but they've done nothing for quite a while.

Absolutely not, but it does play on the minds of managers. Same thing as Leeds as soon as they came up. I'm a bit salty because no player has been selected for England while playing for Hull (Curtis Davies in 13/14 was the biggest offence in this category) but if it was us Bamford was running around for there's no chance he'd be in the England squad. Which is such a strange system.

Probably United not wanting to have to pay more on wages to cover the money Barcelona owe. Transfer market is still open for a long time. Each week that passes will make Barca more desperate to register signings.

He has given debuts to players from Burnley, Southampton, Palace, Bournemouth, Brighton and Villa in the last few years. If the performances warrant it Southgate won't refuse to take a look at him. Especially a known quantity. Sure a kid from Forrest would likely struggle to get a debut call up for the WC. But JLingz he rates already

I am supremely confident Lingard won’t be in that squad.

Debuts tend to not be in major tournaments but it shows he doesn't ignore mid table players. He's an outsider to make it. But feel that it's enhanced a little going down the talisman at a promoted club path kinda like a Charlie Adam role at Blackpool than another good player at West Ham.

He'd be behind Saka, Foden, ESR and Mount obviously. Probably contending for a spot against Maddison who Southgate has problems with his attitude. And Harvey Barnes. All 3 are paying between 4/1 and 7/1 to make the squad. Don't see more than 1 of the 3 making it.
