worked wonders for varane's career

Are you saying Varane faked injuries at United so he doesn't have to play each week whilst getting a decent wage because he has no more motivation in football to achieve any further success?

He also may just not want to play alongside Harry Maguire.

We were assured that United wouldn’t have put so much work in to De Jong if he wasn’t coming so I’m guessing that’s still on?

Not quite. We were assured that they wouldn't have put so much work into him if they didn't have an agreement in place.

Which is entirely possible...However any move for de Jong has always been dependent on Barca paying him what they owe and that doesn't look like happening any time soon.

Also enough levers have been activated that this won't be an issue again for a few months.

Have heard it will be Varane and Martinez against Liverpool.
Honestly that's how it should be. Ten Haag wants to play with a high line and dominate possession, Maguire just doesn't really suit that style.

Actually part of me wonders if Fofana goes to Chelsea, could Leicester be tempted to try and bring back Maguire almost.

Please baby Jesus.

Look, it might not happen (no confirmation yet), and if it happens it might not work out and turn out to be yet another flop in central midfield.

But this is the kind of signing we should have been making weeks ago instead of a fruitless months-long quest for someone who wasn't that keen. Casemiro is a known quantity and would play in an area we are in dire need of quality in.

Kudos if it gets pulled off.

You'd think varane might play better too with the dm he knows his style.

Unlocking is an overused term but casemiro could help varane. Fred. Ronaldo? Eriksen etc. Big time. Pogba would be spewing

Haven't had a mid with knackers since Keane either
United spent a fortune on players to "unlock" Pogba.

When he stops spewing he should probably look closer to home for the reasonnthings didn't work out.

Helps that Liverpool don't have anyone that can bully Martinez

He wasn't even bullied in the previous two games, Toney even came out and said the battle was 50/50.
He is a pretty good little CB, with a confident partner and a GK that commands the box he'll be looking very good IMO.

United wouldn’t have bought Fernandes if they wanted to unlock Pogba. Not that I blame them he’s too injury prone to build around.

Pogba was in his 4th year back at the club when Fernandes was bought.

That's are stupid amount of money for someone that doesn't even have 50 caps in his pro career.

Wolves paid 35m for Fabio Silva, but at least he had a youth goal scoring pedigree. What has Gibbs-White done to command that fee?

He's been pretty good in the Championship.

Also not sure what you're referring to by 'caps' but he has 106 senior league appearances.

Be born white and English.

He spent his first two seasons with Mourinho playing him out of position only so really only had around that year and a half out of 6 years where they tried to unlock him.
