As with Cucu I think we'd decline again.

He'll be our starting CB next season.

If I was us I'd say we decline your offer for him then and go deal with another club.

If you're going to keep coming back and raiding our club we need to get something back than just money when the opportunity is there.

FSG should be offering 75m plus for Caicedo but they won't be. Arthur on loan from Juve is nearing fitness after playing 13 minutes for the season. That'll be like a new signing in itself for FSG.

I don't reckon even Levy took the 12m bid seriously. He just wanted to show he was trying to buy someone without actually ever intending of doing it.

27m is on the low side for a Belgian international. His listed market value is 30m and normally you expect overs in the winter window.

An international who wasn't starting XI, was out of form and had a woefully unprofessional attitude when he came back.

Like I've said before there's a reason why no Albion fans are all that bothered about him leaving, also a reason why the club moved on from him so quickly.

There's a certain irony that Potter said 42 million wouldn't get his boots and now he's at another club and potentially chasing him we should ask for 100 million.

Interesting to see if that continues at Arsenal or was more a result of a clash of personalities at Brighton. Think he will get plenty of game time at Arsenal with no Jesus fit and Saka / Martinelli needing a rest every now and then.

You won't get 100m as Rice is going for that much or a little less in the summer, is a better player and is home grown. 80m would be a great result. I'm sure your recruitment dept would find someone up and coming for a 3rd of that price that will soon develop into a similar player.

You seem happy to milk us for money and then back yourselves to find some more gems in the market.

It will be interesting as he stated that he wouldn't want to move to a club where he was going to be starting on the bench.

Look how he acted when RDZ didn't reward his poor form/attitude with an automatic first team selection.

Spat the dummy.

We'll see.

Depends how many teams want him and if there's a bidding war.

Once one team signs Rice then the other teams might overpay again.

Because we got 27 million when Spurs offered 12 and we expected less than 27.

I wouldn't have paid 27 million for him.
The 12m bid is irrelevant, they were never selling at that price and was way unders.

You may have expected a bit less but it's really win win for everyone.

It's unknown if it's a win win as he hasn't kicked a ball yet for Arsenal.
Even if he becomes rubbish, it's still chump change in a season they're looking like they could win the title in.

I wouldn't say we are happy.

Simply you turn peopled heads with large sums of money and unsettle them enough to make the move inevitable.
I guess thats something that happens to all clubs in all sports.

My AFL club used to get drained all the time before the salary cap and draft evened things up.

Is there ever bidding wars?

Seems like players choose the club and then they need to work out a deal.

I've said elsewhere, we're in a bit of an awkward position at the moment. We have everything to play for, we've just lost out on the kid that we all assumed would be heading our way for the last 6-12 months, and our owners have made it clear have money to spend. If our title chase falters because our squad is exhausted and we didn't add to it when we had the chance, there'll be Edu representations strung up outside Emirates come season's end.

Yep. 27m really is a great buy for Trossard, PL experience and not needing big wages either.

How will he take being depth? He won't start over Martinelli or Saka that often.

Well he didn't take it well with us but maybe the much higher wage will make him feel comfortable riding the pine a bit more.

As mentioned before he himself said he wouldn't want to move to a club where he'd not be starting.
