One thing I reckon is nonsense is "if you value him at 100m pay him accordimgly".

Doesnt work like that. Player has an agreed contract with the club. They can put whatever valuation they like to terminate said contract.

The flip side of this notion is should a player suffer an 18 month injury - can the club deem them worthless and then pay them accordingly? Ie zilch?

Its a two way street.

That's a bit of a long bow. If a club is willing to pay another club a certain level of fee why is the player himself not entitled to ask for an equivalent salary?

We paid Mwepu's contract out in full when he sadly got diagnosed with a career ending illness.

So not zilch.

'sorry mate, cant give you a pay rise cos you might suffer an injury one day'

No, the proposed price that we valued him at was out there in the public space long before you put in a bid for him.

You didn't speak to us first asking if he's available and for what price.

You made a massive under value public bid without approaching us first just to unsettle the player.

No surprise really after that's what you did with Potter too.
We did ask permission.

If any club has tapped up Caicedo why dont you report it and get them punished?

You were tapping him up behind the scenes before you asked us for permission to "speak to him".

Given how quickly it all went down and how quickly you took most of our coaching staff with him suggests that all those people making up their minds so quickly to leave as well had had plenty of time to weigh up that decision.

As if you'd get punished given how piss weak the league was in it's penalties for the campaigner clubs that tried to form the ESL.

Isn't it called negotiation.. u want 100m we offer 60m... U come back with 80m take it or leave it.... Then we come back with 70m and so on...

Fair enough mare, i doubt we'll ever agree on it.

So negotiate a new deal. Saying a club must pay more due to a tranafer valuation is ridiculous. They dont want to sell their asset, they can value it how they see fit regardless of the agreed upon wages. Just as it would be ridicilous for a club to pay a long term injured player far less because theyre not worth much. Thats the converse of "but if you value them so highly why arent you paying more".

Oh please. Like you're not balls deep in the background trying to unsettle other clubs players.

You did it to Benfica too and they called you out on it and now you're at it with us.
Yeah mate, it happens to our players too. Thats professional sport for you.

So literally what I suggested Caicedo should be able to do with Brighton. OK.

Nobody forced your club to act like utter turds and deal with them behind our backs though do they.

You didn't come out and say you hadn't placed a bid and that the media was wrong.

You're just as complicit by dealing with these parasites.
How dare a club try and better themselves buying good players.

I mean I can't stand either club in for him. But really?

There's a right way and a wrong way to do it.

You approve of the slimy underhanded way.

You might not stand them but let's be honest, you're a Super League club fan so we know how they all operate.

It's called negotiation and there's two sides to it. Brighton can and should just say 100m or cya in June. He isnt being snatched away for nothing. Heads been turned. Many have had that and had to see out a season or another year until a bid comes in. If Brighton have the balls to stand up for themselves they can here.

Every club speaks to agents before having bids accepted to get a feel for the interest. Don't act like Brighton don't when buying players. They all do. It's just on a more expensive sale when clubs do it to you compared to when you sign blokes from Sweden

We did say he's not for sale now.

Did you miss that bit?

We're not pissed that clubs can buy him in the off-season.

We're pissed because these slimy ****s have been unsettling one of our contracted players behind our backs in the present.

There's no negotiation, pay us what we want and he can go.

Same thing Benfica said.

He wants a pay rise and to better himself. And asked to leave.

Youve said pay this or no.

Balls in your court.

Theyve spoken to his agent and said he can get paid a lot more and they've said he is keen. Unless there's proof they've broken rules. Play on for all parties. Make them pay!

Is approaching our player without asking us first and then bidding on him in public without even having contacted us to discuss placing a bid for him against the rules?
