Your balance for the previous 3 seasons to this was -548m net. Liverpool's balance for the previous 3 seasons was -20m. Kinda makes your argument look silly.
Sorry, I thought as you only want to count midfielders signed by Liverpool since 2018 that was the accepted start point.

I wonder for how long people clubs will be able to compete with our spending, and still have their supporters whine about being unable to compete.

5 years isn't an insignificant timeframe.

You were the one that brought up entire transfer spend by both clubs, not just midfielders.

But since you have decided to focus on just midfielders let's bring up the figures post 2018:

LFC (euros)

In - Thiago - 22m
Arthur - Loan - 0

Out - Wijanldum - Free
- Grujic - 10m
- Shaqiri - 6m

Total spent on midfielders since 2018 = 6m euros

City (Euros)

In - Rodri - 70m
- Grealish - 117.5m
- Phillips - 49m

Out - Luiz - 9m
- Delph - 9m

Total spent on midfielders since 2018 = 218.5m euros.

That says it all.

Don't mind Magic Mike. Not sure he is the answer tho.

He's not up to it for a big 6 club. Puzzling how there's so few quality French keepers coming through these days. Can only imagine with such a top quality & vast youf system in France keepers end up being those not good enough out on the field.

Just failed Scrum halfs. I bet Antoine Dupont could pick up a football tomorrow and be the best in the world.

Back in the day Brazil were known for shitty keepers with poor playes being shuffled into goal but that's totally changed these days. I'd hope the FFF are trying to address the dearth of quality French keepers.

Total spent on forwards is the complete opposite. Although if you clarify it to total spent on good forwards then City would lead.

Maybe a 16 year old Harvey Elliott for 3m will make the difference.
Maybe not sulking like a 5 year old will for you? Ever heard of having an open mind to other thoughts and ideas rather than shutting down everything because they don't agree with your narrative?

Oh, we're back on post 2018, slightly confused.

But if we're treating Grealish as a midfielder shouldn't we also treat Sterling (€56m) as a midfielder? And Ferran Torres (€55m)? And Sane (€49m)? And Harrison (€12m)? All play similar roles to Grealish.

And Gakpo and Dias for that matter?

You forgot Brahim Diaz (€12m) as well. And Lavia (€12m) although I'm kind of hoping we buy him back.

If we keep this up I'll have to start crying about us not being able to compete as well.

They use injuries for that.

Players that are classed as midfielders on transfermkt. It's not difficult.

I haven't cited players like Ryan Kent who never played a PL game for us and plenty of others either.

So now you are including forwards; wingers etc in your argument. Won't be long before you start including keepers and CBs.

Pretty much every player in that case. Not all clubs can manage a net spend of 500m in a 3 year period.

So Liverpool have neglected new CMs in anticipation of Bellingham and have now cooled on him? Very weird.

jack grealish isn't classified as a midfielder on transfermarkt

Would pool fans rather spend all the budget on just Bellingham or spend it on 3 CMs?
They just want some money, they never have any

begging no money GIF

We need 3, as well as getting Morton back from loan. Keita, Ox and Arthur are gone. Milner's future not decided yet.

Not every player. Just figure if you're including Grealish (who is classified on transfermrkt as a winger), its only reasonable to include sales of players in the same position.

Or leave Grealish out, I'm not too fussed.

In the long run, you're only including midfielders because it makes your figures look better (or worse), you're only insisting on 2018 because you spent £60m on Keita a few weeks before. And you definitely don't want to include the millions you spent on Gakpo, Nunez and Dias because, well they're a bit shit.

Brahim Diaz played for us in the league BTW, Lavia played for us in the cups.
