It's really not. Messi saying he can't see himself living there with his family on a billion euro contract over 3 seasons says it all about the place really.
They'll continue to sign top class players that are finished / at the end of their careers but won't be doing better than the likes of Neves for players who still have a fair chunk of their career ahead of them.
