Is Kai Havertz that much of an upgrade on what Arsenal already had?

Rice most definitely is. You don't break the 100m mark without improving the starting XI. So the Xhaka to Rice upgrade is massive. As long as the Partey replacement is of a similar quality their midfield is improving. But up front it's still a bit flakey compared to City and what Liverpool used to be

I think if it's not Madrid this year it's Chelsea next summer for sure

With an attacking manager and him not having to be also our most creative player I think it's worth risking him going for nothing and firing us up the table with 1 last season.

It's not like we aren't spending to improve the areas we need to. GK and creative midfield done, Tapsoba and one of Tosin or van de Wen likely. This is quite different from when we should have sold him to city.

Rice isn't technically finalised but he's all but done. So him.

Havertz and Maddison basically cancel each other out.

Although because I don't think he suits that system, I have Havertz slightly ahead in terms of who I think will make a bigger impact next season.

Good deal for West ham if you use it well. For the types of players you can target, that should be 3 great signings

If its the 92 +13m reported pretty good. Par value was 85-90m. Rice can give them 8-10 years service, home grown.

I don't think Ange is anywhere near as strict on the stifle creativity and play safe keep possession football. He doesn't like playing long and risking losing the ball that way. But in the attacking half he still allows for some creativity with chance creation. A lot more fluid than what we've had under Conte where every player had a set pass they're meant to be doing in different zones. He'll allow him more freedom than that.

The pressing side of it is such a weird one. We've had players look capable of pressing under Poch look inept under Conte and Mou. Guys like Kane and Son may seem to struggle with that press too, but at the same time if there's a cohesive group behind them doing it then they're more likely not to look shit at it like they have been.

When Rice is finalised that’s monumental for Arsenal. Probably the most significant signing Arsenal has made since Sol Campbell.

Havertz is very much growing on me after an indifferent first reaction to the rumours. Arteta’s management is the key for me. He’s already improved a number of players considerably and am excited to see Havertz under Arteta.

It sounds like they are also getting Timber which would be around the 40m mark. Havertz 65m + Rice 105m - that's 200m+ all up. Think that'll be it for Arsenal unless there's significant transfer income which I can't see (sellable assets Partey, Xhaka, Balgoun, Holding, Lokonga).
