I dont know if all the paper talk is true but if Hendo really does end up leaving Saudi after 6 months. Geez he's absolutely made a mess of all that.

Not sure who was advising him through all this but surely it would just have made more sense to stay at Liverpool and be a squad player this season. All the choices he has made have been shockers.

The decision to go to Saudi was dumb but once there he had to commit, to try to come back to Europe after 6 months is crazy.

He wanted to play week in week out was the issue but playing in Saudi Arabia you aint doing that anyway.

Think he should have went to Juventus in July before he made a complete embarassment out of himself for whats basically going to be zero financial return when you factor in the break clauses Al Ettifaq had to cover their asses

Yeah I know he wanted to play week in and week out which is why he left, but it was dumb. Footballers never understand when they are receding and cant take a back seat. Gerrard did the same, he left for LA cos Rodgers couldnt promise he'd start every game, Gerrard later said he regretted his decision not to stay and be a squad player. No doubt Hendo is feeling those same regrets.

It was nothing to do with getting a regular game. Henderson took the dirty Saudi dollars to make himself even more rich than he already was, to play in front of one or two thousand fans, for a regime that oppresses gays.

yeah the mental gymnastics he has done to make Henderson leaving be about 'game time'... of course it was for the money, everyone knows that even Henderson knows that everyone knows that when he said it 'wasn't about the money'.

It wasn't about playing week in & out. He could have done that in the Championship, MLS, J League, A League etc.

It was about quadrupling his wages, plain & simple at the end of his career. I actually don't mind footballers doing that at th end of their careers but Henderson being an advocate for the LGBTQ community should know better than accepting a contract from a Saudi team.

Good on him though taking a 99% paycut to escape the place. Not many footballers would be ok with taking such a big paycut. Can only assume he came to the conclusion that the wages on offer in Saudi just didn't justify the lifestyle and what he had to give up.

No signings this week... Hit us up Ange.
We need that fresh hit.

The reason he left Liverpool was about not playing week in and week out. Klopp told him he wouldnt be so then he thought about leaving. Then the Saudi offer happened.

The playing week in and week out and the money from Saudi Arabia were both contributing factors to him leaving Liverpool. It doesnt have to just be one.

The guy is 33. Of course Klopp isn't going to guarantee him playing every minute. But in his last two seasons with Liverpool he played in 70 of the 76 PL games. He would have got plenty of game time this season. He clearly went to Saudi for the megabucks when he was already super rich.

Oh I dont doubt he went for the money. But I also dont think he was pleased with taking a back seat at Liverpool either. Funnily enough had he stayed, he probably wouldnt played quite a lot over the first half of the season considering our injuries.

It's tough with Hendo now. Kinda ruined his legacy at the club with the Saudi move.

Didn't he give Chelsea the snubbles quite publicly in the summer window?

Quality player btw.
Not a Brighton player. Wouldn't fit in.
