talkSPORT and West Ham news seems to be 100% spot on. David Sullivan is on that show constantly.

I mean do you guys think Maguire is taking a 100k per week paycut without any payment or compensation?

I don't know what his wages are going to be but I'd also expect he is signing for more than the years he has left at United.

Happy to wait for a decent source to say otherwise but so far only rags have been mentioned and no United sources are stating anything of the sort. If you come up with anything with some substance let me know.

I am curious at if there'll be a tipping point for Brighton. Everyone thought Southampton were the model club because they sold players for huge fees and seemingly just replaced them, and then.. it just stopped. You have a few transfers that bust, you get a bad run of form, or a few unlucky injuries, does it all implode? Or is their model even better? Will be really interesting.
Not if their recruitment stays on top of things. Southampton made miss after miss a few windows in a row and before going down the city youth team path barely made a good signing and were very ordinary

Fred to Fenerbahce is imminent for 15m euros. Amrabat to United is agreed verbally so should move quickly if Fiorentina don't play funny buggers.
One average mid for another.

Why would West Ham or Sullivan know intimate details of negotiations between United and Maguire? Maguire will be compensated to an extent but nobody knows the structure or amount.
Because its a part of the deal in him leaving

If he isnt paid out by Man United he aint joining West Ham so I think David Sullivan is and will want to know about the payout between United and Magiuire. Without it he aint spending 30 mill after all

Are you joking? West Ham won't buy Maguire, who has agreed to their contract, unless United pay Maguire money? Ridiculous.

Fiorentina would have been planning for an Amrabat exit since the world cup. They left him out for the friendlies and they've got Arthur on loan as cover.

cover for what? a cone at training or a body in the medical room

Gotta question the logic rejecting 75m and then accepting 95m days out from the season starting.

The extra 20m is just going to be added to the price tags for our next targets.

Brennan Johnson 50m? Seriously?

We are likely to spend all 95m on 2 players in Johnson and Orban who don't push Kulucevski, Son or Richarlison for a starting spot.

Fair enough, agree to disagree. I’m not really in to the whole football twitter account banter space, not my thing.

I completely agree but I love that Zidane 'liked' your post when he's probably the most prolific sharer of that sort of banter content around here.

7 years later and everyone still struggling with the concept of net spend.
Net spend is as irrelevant as it was 7 years ago.

Wages plus amortisation is where its at.

How many supporters bases you fighting with tonight?

It definitely is not and you don't know the terms or the amount of the payment to Maguire either. Transfers and Wages come from different pots as you call it. United don't receive £30m less Maguires payout from West Ham. For example, United may pay Maguire £50,000 per week for two years from their wage bill. We don't receive a lower transfer fee.
Pretty sure you have to settle all debts to a player when you do the transfer.

It can go either way, West Ham could pay a lower fee and cover the difference in wages, or a higher fee and United gives Maguire a payout.

I reckon he would have an unamortised value of around £30m, and as long as that is covered I don't think it matters to United too much which way its done.

I don't think that is the case. United have sold players and paid part of the wage gap on an ongoing basis in the past. Regulations may have changed recently on this though. His unamortised value is £20m apparently.

I'm just waiting for the Everton-bashing... from you! (Insert Groundskeeper Willy and memes about fighting one's self)
I mean we're taking the brighton approach, signing youth - except for more money. We're signing a 19 year old Portuguese striker and were apparently looking at a young PSG Castaway.
