Nah that was ages ago. Man United agreed 30 mill for Maguire over a week ago now and now he is on the bench and part of the squad despite Man United not announcing anything about the deal falling over. It doesnt make much sense

The rumors go that Maguire wants a 15 mill pay-off to leave and United are offering 6.5 mill. United dont have much of a leg to stand on with this one. Just give him 15 mill and move on
Whats his wage like at United?

They’ve got enough to fill out 3 teams.

200k a week for 2 more years. West Ham offering him 100k a week so he wants the difference.

Since he didnt put in a transfer request etc, Maguire is also due a loyalty bonus so its a case of 10.4 mill + loyalty bonus = 15 mill he wants

West Ham should drop the transfer fee by 8m and pay that to Maguire as a sign on bonus. That's surely enough for slabhead to call it quits. If its money he is after he should put himself about in Saudi Arabia.

The contract was offered to and signed by Harry Maguire. If he can get half his current wages from his next club and the other half from United, he should do that. He shouldn’t miss out on everything he is owed in wages at Manchester United just because the club want to sell him.

Thats up to Man United not West Ham surely?

Man United should accept 22 mill like you said id say. In the end you cant push someone out and tell em to take a paycut as a favor etc

He is owed what you contactually owe him when its all said and done

Obviously. Slabhead can't expect Utd wages over the next 2 years playing at West Ham though. He'll have to take some sort of a hit to continue his career at West Ham. 8m signing on fee seems realistic, it's half of what he is entitled to and he has a fresh start at West Ham. Otherwise he can sit around at Utd wasting his career or if money is that important to him find a Saudi club to sign him.

Phil Jones made a career out of this.

He didnt want to join West Ham to begin with. He was preferring to rot on the bench. Moyes and even Declan Rice had to talk him into it over many weeks

I expect Maguire is a bit bitter over the whole thing and is happy to rot on the bench to screw Ten Haag over instead of losing out on money

All in all I think its a ugly divorce as opposed to anything about the actual money part

That would be very short sighted. What sort of contract will he get after his Utd deal expires in 2 years at 32 if he warms the bench until then? What about his England career?

Expect he might do a Henderson and just end up in Saudi Arabia really.

At this point, I think the deal is 50-50 at best now, the longer it goes on, the more chance we are at pulling out.

Don't have a problem with Maguire holding out, why should he have to sacrifice millions because United want him out.

For his sake you'd want it all sorted this window though, it'll do him no good staying at United. But holding out a few weeks isn't going to harm anyone.

Clearly not. He's still trying to dictate terms.
I think he knows you don't want him.. sending him to the reserves just means he'll continue to get the salary that he wants.

Harry Maguire played more minutes for England at the 2022 World Cup and during 2023 than he did for the entirety of the 2022/23 Premier League season for Manchester United. Harry Maguire‘s England spot is safe.

This post from last year seems salient now.

Michael Edwards was our Football Director until the end of the 2021/22 season.
Julian Ward replaced him, then left in December.
Ian Graham was our head of data analytics, also left in December.
All 3 had been at the club for around a decade.
