Reckon Brighton has the right strategy. Even though clubs know Brighton has money to splurge, if they demand too much there's always the next player on the list.

Bit different as a mid table side (cue the Chelsea jokes). They can afford to give more chances to unproven players with little to no consequences.

Sides like Liverpool and Chelsea are under heavier scrutiny and higher expectations from fans and pundits so are more likely to overpay for the targets at the top of their list, whereas Brighton are under less pressure to improve their side immediately so can afford to just keep shuffling down the list if they get priced out.

I get the strong sense there’s been a power struggle behind the scenes over the years, with Klopp wanting a greater say in the club’s recruitment strategy.

It’s no coincidence that we’ve gone from being the best in the business both in terms of talent ID and also execution of our recruitment strategy with Michael Edwards and Julian Ward at the helm, to what we’re seeing today which could at best be described as ‘sloppy’.

Stick to what you’re good at Jürgen.

We can't just throw unproven players into the squad though. A lot of work goes into getting them ready to come into the first team.

There are massive consequence however if it's done the wrong way. Relegation is a far bigger outcome than some team who'll never be in relegation battles having an offseason and still finishing top 10.

A lot of the pressure is mostly perceived rather than being a real thing. Only poor owners react to that outside pressure from social media.
