It does make sense though on a logical level. You could send Sanchez the other way who would become Arsenal's #2. Sanchez doesn't appear to be good enough to be your #1 long term. Of all the keepers on the market who would there be gettable that's better than Ramsdale?

We had our chance with him and we blew it. He had verbally agreed to join United when Bayern were pushing him out and he has said that he was fully expecting to be a Manchester United player but the club dithered on finalising the deal so Real Madrid swooped in. He must look back on that now with all he's achieved at Real Madrid and shudder to think about how differently things could have panned out if Ed Woodward wasn't so incompetent.
