Whether you agree with Isak’s stance or not his situation can’t be good for Newcastle’s ability to attract high level talent in the future. Generally speaking in football the players support the players rather than the clubs as it’s in their interest to have as much freedom of movement as possible. Newcastle have bottled this situation. The fact that Isak has now escalated this matter publicly demonstrates the relationship is untenable.

Good on them I say.

We refused to be bullied by all the bullshit Caicedo tried when he tried to force his way out on his terms.

Some said that was untenable at the time but he ended up coming back, playing well and we made a lot more money from it for standing our ground.

In the end he went on our terms.

We just stood out ground on Baleba as well.

I think there a moment happening now where the clubs outside of the "big 6" are not going to be bullied into selling so easily anymore.

I read somewhere Paratici is talking to Palace about possible replacements to help smooth the process. Any word on who has been linked?
So what he knows more than Palace recruiters? Spurs just pay the fee. Think that's a bs rumour

Not sure why a footballer.would rely on a promise and not insist on anything in writing.

And surely, if Isak wants to leave he could put in a transfer request rather than talk in riddles and cry on social media. Of course he'd lose your loyalty bonus, but he's not been too loyal has he?

Like all players I am certain Isak will be back playing once the transfer window closes if he doesn't get his move. At the end of the day he's still playing PL football on great money at Newcastle and like all other footballers who have said they aren't going to play again they generally do once the transfer window closes.

As far as we are concerned I'd be happy to leave the bid at 115m and walk away if Newcastle don't want to accept.

I'd like to see it resolved after this weekend's game, pointless for all parties to let it rumble on.

One thing I've been frustrated with my club over is how happy we are to accommodate players leaving, sometimes below market value. That being said, it makes it far easier to attract players if they know they can further their career and move on to better opportunities when they arise.
I have heard a lot along these lines. Even Liverpool had to spend a long time getting back to their position as a proper destination club and lost players like Torres, Suerez, Sterling and Coutinho.

Newcastle is growing back to a big(ish) club but they are not there yet. And teams like Brighton don't get the highest end developing players unless there is an unwritten understanding that those players can move on when they outgrow the club.

That is just the way it is.

And looking at Mac who had an agreement with Brighton to leave at 35m which they honored and welcomed him back with open arms on his return. No bullshit drawn out transfer saga either. Brighton / Bloom really do have their footballing department well sorted and are well placed to progress up the football food chain.

His father had a bit to do with that negotiation and both he and Mac always dealt with the club in very respectful ways.

We ended up getting 55 million for him but the move was very seemless.

Given how important loyalty is to Liverpool supporters, I expect they will join with Newcastle fans in their derision of Isak's actions.

He should put his head down on and crack on with his career at Newcastle until it comes to an end.

At the end of the day he's a professional footballer in the PL at Newcastle earning 120,000 per week. He's in no position to complain / moan at the club with a long term contract to honor.

Side quest looks to be getting El Khannouss from Leicester for around 30m.
