Nice to finally cut deep on the deadwood

Frankly, Not the big flex it seems.
Be thankful Arsenal exist to pay high fees for flops.

In euros.

Felix: Bought 52m + 11m loan. Sold 32m + 5.5m loan. -25.5m
Lukaku: Bought 113m. Sold. 30m + 5.8m + 7.9m loans. -69.3m
Koulibaly: Bought 56m. Sold 23m. -33m
Nkunku: Bought 60m. Sold 37m. -23m
Mudryk: Bought 70m. Suspended. -70m sunk. (suspended from driving today as an aside. Truly ****ed his career).
Dewsbury-Hall: Bought 35.4m. Sold 28.7m. -6.7m
Ugochukwu: Bought 27m. Sold 28.7m. +1.7m
Chuckwuemeka: Bought 18m. Sold 20m. +2m
Petrovic: Bought 16m. Sold. 28.90m. +12.9m
Ziyech: Bought 40m. Sold FREE. -40m
Sterling: Bought 56.2m. Loans (undisclosed fee).

Not focused on long term players later sold for low fees or academy sales.
Mostly the Boehly spending spree flops. Strategic academy sales from the most extensive academy/loan system in world football is doing a lot of the heavy lifting where Boehly era spending has been at best scatter gun.

Meh, im just happy we've finally cut deep and reduced the squad to a normal number and kept our net spend down while doing it. After a turbulent few years we've finally settled again and football has becone exciting again.

Be more interesting to see the list of players that quote relates too and what they moved for compared to their book value left rather than just a bunch of random names.

Boehly isnt pulling the strings either.

It has been rolling along the entire window. Liverpool agreed terms with the player weeks/months ago and Palace were resigned to sell if there was no new contract. There was nothing last minute about it - except the bit where Palace cancelled the whole thing.
Of course it was last minute, Liverpool offer submitted only 2 days before transfer deadline. Agreeing terms with a player who wanted to go to Liverpool is the easy bit. If personal terms were agreed "weeks / months ago" as you say why didn't Liverpool bid then? They assumed Palace were desperate to sell no matter what.

Palace only ever had 2 requirements to allow Guehi his dream move - 1. For a buyer to meet Palace's valuation and 2. To have any offer accepted in time for Palace time to find an adequate replacement and Liverpool failed miserably on point 2.

Palace's hastily arranged transfer of Igor from BHA fell through and Palace pulled out- fair enough, not a lot of sympathy for Liverpool.

Similar to the Eze saga, Spurs stuffed around for bloody ages, I must have read dozens of headlines "Spurs preparing a bid for Eze", "Spurs close in on Eze" etc. Then Spurs squabbled over a few million £ before Arsenal met Palace's asking price and bingo, he's an Arsenal player. No sympathy for Spurs either.

Go well, Eber

Fabio Silva is a poster boy for everything that is wrong with football. How anyone could pay 40 million for him to start with is shocking enough. The fact he flopped, pun intended, and failed upwards to Dortmund is staggering.
It's not his fault Wolves paid over the odds for him.

Yep - agreeing personal terms with a player doesn't mean much if you wait until the 11th hour to submit a bid.

Palace have done what's best for their own interests and I commend them for it. Liverpool only have themselves to blame in this scenario.

Liverpool aren’t the main loser in this situation Guehi is. Papa e couldn’t attract a replacement says a bit too. I feel for Guehi.

Is Guehi really the loser?

He'll just stay an extra season at a club that hes happy at and then he will be able to walk to any club he wants and have the extra bonus of a signing on fee being a free agent.

He was sitting in LFC's office in London waiting for his dream transfer which had been agreed. I would say he would be quite upset.

I don't think Guehi ever requested to leave and he never refused to play. He just said he wasn't going to sign a contract extension. Rather then have him leave for nothing in a year Steve Parish arranged the deal with Liverpool. It's not clear if the deal fell through because Palace couldn't get a replacement in time or because Glasner threatened to walk.

It's not like he's blown his chances of a big move. He's only 25 and there's the January window too.

I dont see him as a mercenary like Isak so he'll just get on with it like a professional. There is a reason hes club captain.

Palace want a fee. They'll take 15-20m in Jan.
