Even after outlaying nearly €500m Liverpool need a rebuild. Konate, VVD and Allison all past their best. Salah and Robertson leaving for nothing.

But wasn't the 500m spent at least in some part in anticipation of Salah and Robertson leaving?

We got Kerkez because Robbo was declining. Salah’s decline happened this season instead of next so we’ll have to get a RW now.

Yep. Plus part of the rationale to go after Wirtz, Isak and Ekitike was to in the longer term replace Salah's goals and assists. But we need that pacy winger too, preferably two of them.

I thought the idea of getting Isak, Ekiteke AND Wirtz was to rejuvenate your attacking talent? You might need a new right wing, but I thought the idea was the re-shape the attack to be less reliant on that position?

Haha jinx, yeah so kinda what I'm saying. You still need to literally replace the position, but I thought the idea was that longer term that volume of goal involvements could be more evenly spread around, and a large chunk of that investment had already been made.

Hahaha all g mate. A Mane regen would be perfect.

That’s the plan but both our wings are still a big problem. We really haven’t replaced Diaz on the left either. Gakpo is slow and Ngumoha is just a kid.

If Isak excels next season, Ekitike can play on the left and we get a world class right winger - the attack may be okay. That's 3 things having to go very well though.

We need Wirtz to find his absolute best level in the PL/CL too. He's shown signs he could get there but the money spent on him + Isak was eye watering.

Gakpo was a weird buy, a World Cup special where he gets over inflated. His finishing is pretty meh.

He was good last season as a sub option to Diaz, a completely different player off the bench that defences had to adapt to.

Now it's just him on that side and everyone knows what to expect.

I thought Ekitike was meant to be an upgrade on Nunez but then you bought Isak as well. I don't think they have started a game together in the PL. Sometimes replaced each other off the bench and sometimes they have both been on towards the end of a game.

Yeah, two wingers needed and even though Robbo hasn't been first choice you still need to replace him. I don't think Tsimikas is coming back.
