Didn't Chelski also buy Ivanovic (Serb right back) for 9m pounds as well?

What a waste.
He'll replace Ben-Haim in the squad next season.

Which won't mean much.

If Carvalho leaves then he could partner Terry quite alot in the centre.
(I'm pretty sure Ivanovic is another Gallas re; versatility.)

Ben-Haim, Malouda, Sidwell and Belletti. Chelsea bought brilliantly last season.

Alex on a free was their only decent buy. And how long will he be content sitting on the bench?

Tottenham should buy him. Woodgate-Alex or King-Alex. Make it happen Juande!

Louis Saha spotted at SJP apparently...

He's a good player, with a decent goal scoring record, but he's always injured. He'll also be 30 before the start of next season.

I'd take him, but only if it involved Alan Smith going back in the other direction :p

Saha for Owen.

A zero net sum gain if there ever was one.

Yep. Send him back in our direction, but further down the East Lancs Road and into Anfield.

You sick sadistic bastard!

:D

Man Utd currently being linked with Danny Alves. Basically, we'll be linked with every decent RB in the world this coming offseason.

Considering how much he'll cost i'm not sure if he'd be a wise purchase. Incredible player going forward but it's his lack of defensive accountability that would concern me. He and Ronaldo on our right side would be sexy to watch but we'd sure concede a lot of goals down the oppositions left flank.

Ramsey looks like he's off to the Mancs for 5 million.

Shit.

Right back isn't a position that needs filling. Brown has been solid in the job, Hargreaves has covered him well when Brown has moved to centre back, and Gary Neville should be back next season.

If we need defensive cover, it's at left back.

Villa, Silva willing to sacrifice
13 May 2008 | 20:52 - PA Sport

Valencia players David Villa and David Silva have confirmed they are willing to be transferred in order to ease the club's financial difficulties.

Spain star Villa is set to be one of the sought-after signings of the off-season, with a host of clubs across Europe reportedly interested.

Spanish newspaper Marca claimed earlier in May that Real Madrid would be prepared to pay Villa five million euros (A$8.2million) a season to join the Primera Liga champions, plus a transfer fee of 40 million euros (A$65.7million) which would double the price Valencia paid Zaragoza for Villa in 2005.

Silva, meanwhile, is rumoured to be the target of a 20 million-euro (A$32.9million) offer from Internazionale.

Valencia are said to be in financial turmoil following their early exit from the Champions League this season, and were helped little by the reported eight million euros (A$13.1million) they paid in compensation to Ronald Koeman when the Dutch coach was axed in April.

It is believed the club is yet to find a kit sponsor next season and has failed in a bid to sell off their stadium, and move which was predicted to generate 90 million euros (A$148million) for the club this season.

But both players have admitted that if a bid comes in that suits the club they would be ready to leave.

"If the best thing for the club is to get some money and sell me then I'll accept that," Villa told Marca.

"As players we're at the disposal of the club."

However he warned any potential suitors: "I have a long contract, a big release clause and I signed it to fulfil it."

Silva echoed his team-mates comments, saying: "I'm very happy at Valencia but in football you never know what might happen and I'm at the disposal of the club."

"My future will be whatever is best for Valencia."

Villa has scored 21 goals in a season to forget for Los Che this year, while Silva has found the net eight times.

I'd prefer to purchase our next starting RB before G.Neville retires and so we wouldn't have to use Hargreaves out of position. Yes, Brown has been solid and Hargreaves has filled in admirably, but neither our are future RB. Get the future RB now thus allowing them to be eased in during their first EPL season and then when G.Neville retires or isn't good enough they'll be able to step into that first team role much easier. O'Shea and Silvestre can easily be used as backup LB, difference is Evra is our LB of the future. That's why i'd love to get Phillip Lahm, someone who can be used at either fullback position.

Why would Richard Dunne leave City exactly? Strange rumor

Apparantly we have signed Juventus player Davide Lanzfame, young Italian striker on season long loan. Dont know anything about him other then he looks EXACTLY like Cesc Fabregas

Ben Arfa Confirms Arsenal Talks

Lyon winger Hatem Ben Afra has confirmed that talks are underway over his potential move to Arsenal.

The French international, who has accumulated five caps for his country, has been heavily linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium over the last week, and the winger has suggested that talks are ongoing.

"It is true that we have spoken about and to Arsenal, but we will see how it is going to happen," Ben Arfa told L’Equipe.

Whatever happens this summer, the twenty-one year old has stressed that he will only be playing for a club where he will be a regular first team player next season.

"If I stay at Lyon, it is to play. Wherever else I go, it will be to play,” added Ben Afra.

Ben Afra, who is valued at around £13 million, says that his immediate priority is the completion of the domestic season in France.

"The season is not over yet, two games are remaining (one in the league, followed by the Coupe de France final). Today I am at Lyon. We will see what tomorrow is made of. I try to give my maximum and to give everything when I am on the pitch," he concluded.

The left-sided player appeared in all eight of his team’s Champions League matches this season before their eventual exit to Manchester United in the round-of-sixteen.

It's been around for a good 2 months now.

Probably because he can double his wages should he move to Newcastle/Spurs.

Smith -> Boro is the latest rumour doing the rounds, along with Boa Morte -> Us (:()

Anyone seen him play before? Sounds like an exciting prospect.

Will be keeping an eye on him in the FA Cup final.

Just when Cardiff beat Boro in the Cup. Looked a handy player. He would possibly be better off going to a mid table EPL side first to get more game time, but having said that if he's good enough he'll flourish at United.

Yes and Santa Claus goes around the world and delivers presents to kids every Christmas.

Absolutely no way that Chelsea would even bother with that.

So the ':D' is on you.

Whos the joke on AC? ;)

Spanish Press: Chelsea Plan Audacious €50m Bid For Torres

Chelsea are willing to offer Liverpool €50m for Spanish hit-man Fernando Torres according to Spanish sports paper Marca

The former Atletico Madrid striker is one of Roman Abrahmovic’s top priorities and it seems as if the Russian oil tycoon will stop at nothing to land his man.

But despite his money waving tactics, his efforts to land the Spaniard may prove futile as the Reds will not be selling their man at any price as he has become too important in Rafa Benitez’s squad.

Torres has already broken records this season in the Premier League by beating Ruud Van Nistelrooy’s in becoming the most prolific foreign player in his debut season.

There were reports that Liverpool may be forced to sell their prized assets to curb some of the rising debts they currently have with various financial institutions.

Abrahmovic has in the past shown that he is not afraid to spend mega bucks in order to bring in the top names. They came close to signing Steven Gerrard a few years ago, only for the Liverpool skipper to decide against the mood at the last moment. Surely trying to snatch Torres will prove to be just as hard, if not more

Oh c'mon bro about 10% of the stuff reported in the papers is true (and that's probably an overestimate).

It's possible I guess but Chelsea know Liverpool wouldn't sell and Torres is happy there. Even Chelsea's transfer minds aren't that stupid. (although with every stupid transfer/price....)

It's about 3-5% likely to be true. That's just my opinion though.

It's possible this is true but also very unlikely to be true.

Wouldn't put it past them with the current situation with our "custodians".

And I wouldn't put it past Tom and Uncle George to sell our best "asset". See what Thicks did at Corinthians.
