Quaresma does "audaciously taking somebody on in a tight situation in an unconvential or ridiculous manner"

Correction:

Quaresma does "audaciously taking somebody on in a tight situation in an unconvential or ridiculous manner, which turns out unsuccessful, and therefore dives on the ground, feigns injury and appeals for a foul, then gives a look that indicates he was robbed when it isn't given"

Barcelona Agree Deal With Alves

Daniel Alves has reached a principle agreement to sign for Barcelona in the summer in a deal that would see him pen a five-year contract and earn three times his current salary.

The Brazilian full-back has made his intention to leave the Andalucian club clear a year after being refused a lucrative transfer to join Chelsea and has taken the first step out of Sevilla, according to Sport.

While Alves may have agreed to a switch to Camp Nou, however, he is not free to just walk away from Sevilla and will be reliant on Barça negotiating a fee.

Last summer both Chelsea and Real Madrid were reported to have made huge offers for his services, but president José Maria del Nido turned both clubs down.

It was Del Nido's refusal to even discuss a transfer 12 months ago tat has caused Alves to make the first move this time around as he did not understand how José Antonio Reyes, Julio Baptista and Sergio Ramos could leave, but not him.

Sevilla asked Chelsea for between €35 and €40m, yet when an offer of €36m was received the club still said no and that led to a public spat between Alves and the president.

Barça had made ensuring that the player wanted to join them a priority and this agreement will bolster confidence that next season can bring a new look to the side.

Alves is rumoured to be the first of four big-name signings that the Blaugrana are set to approach as they are ready to splash €100m on new players.

This move will also open the door for Gianluca Zambrotta to move to Milan.

Arsenal's being linked with Diego from Bremen. A similar player to Rosicky but he's a proven goal scorer. Would be a good signing IMO.

Diego is 10 times the player Rosicky is!! Diego would be a phenomenal signing not just a "good" one... Diego has the potential to have a Torres like impact on the side he joins

Hopefully you're right and we get him and he has as good a season as Torres has had so far. We are in desperate need of a goalscoring attacking midfielder.

Well he is one of the best going around... But do you really see Arsene forking out 20-30mil on just one player?

I will play for Madrid before that happens.

Hunt for Kewell is on
4 April 2008 | 09:45 - SBS

Harry Kewell’s injury ravaged stint at Liverpool may be coming to an end but that has only resulted in increased interest for his services from some of Europe’s biggest clubs.

AC Milan have been heavily linked with the 29-year-old Socceroos star with Italian super-agent Giovanni Branchini - who helped seal Ronaldo’s move to the San Siro and land Fabio Capello the England job - a big hitter in player recruitment at Milanello. He is also a partner of Kewell’s agent Bernie Mandic.

Former Australian national team goalkeeper Zeljko Kalac has established himself as the Rossoneri’s first-choice this season and Kewell would have the perfect tour guide should a switch to Milan eventuate.

However, Milan are not the only Italian club chasing the attacking midfielder with Juventus and another Serie A outfit touted as possible destinations.

Turin giants Juventus are also in the hunt with Bianconeri coach Claudio Ranieri a long-time admirer of Kewell’s talent.

In assistant Christian Damiano - who worked under Gerard Houllier at Liverpool when Kewell arrived in 2003 - Ranieri also has an insider that knows just how good the Australian ace can be.

Despite having played less than 20 games for Liverpool during the past two seasons Kewell remains hot property on the transfer market with La Liga sides Valencia - a team in transition since the arrival of coach Ronald Koeman this season - and Sevilla keeping an eye on developments.

After a dazzling start to his Anfield career under Houllier, scoring 11 goals in 49 appearances in the 2003/04 campaign, Kewell’s career has stalled with long-term injuries seeing him spend more time on the treatment table than on the pitch.

Reds boss Rafael Benitez has stuck by his Aussie charge over the years, even picking Kewell in his starting XI for the 2004/05 UEFA Champions League final win over AC Milan in which he lasted less than half an hour, but he appears to have lost patience with his $A8.7million a year winger.

The emergence of Dutchman Ryan Babel should force Kewell - who suffered yet another injury setback while on Socceroos duty against Singapore late last month - out of Liverpool but rest assured he has a plethora of first class suitors offering him another challenge.

No way will he go to Sevilla... Diego Capal runs the left wing and will for 10years unless he gets sold...

Italy is the perfect place for him since he has lost a yard of pace... He still has the technical ability...

I know Alves would be a great buy for Barca, but is it just me or will he just be a RW playing RB, with Barca's defensive issues still on show?

I agree with youngsaint, Kewell would go very well in Italy as he hasn't lost skill, just a yard of pace. Be funny if he plays for Milan though, they really are a retirement home :D .

CROUCH BACK TO POMPEY

By Scott Piecha

Peter Crouch has agreed to join Portsmouth in the summer in a move worth £8million.

The Liverpool striker will sign a four-year deal at the end of the season worth £60,000 a week to link up with Harry Redknapp again. Crouch played under Redknapp at Southampton and the Pompey boss sees him as the perfect partner for Jermain Defoe who joined in January for £7.5m from Spurs.

The 6ft 7ins beanpole striker has been looking for a way out of Anfield, with boss Rafa Benitez making it clear he is no longer a regular in the first team. Crouch has been linked with a move to Manchester City, Aston Villa and Newcastle, but has chosen to rejoin the South Coast side where he made his name.

With 18 goals in 37 league games for Pompey in 2001-2 he helped keep them in the Championship before Redknapp took over at Fratton Park to guide them into the top flight.

Daniel Alves & Didier Drogba seem two players 99% likely to be moved on in the summer.

so.. where will they go?

Dani Alves has been heavily linked with Chelsea for a long time and their seems to be history. but his agent has confirmed Barca have made contact and rumours are going around that we have agreed personal terms with him. then there is Real Madrid who already have Sergio Ramos at Right Back but Schuster has come out and publicly declared admiration for Alves.. were is he gonna go folks? if anywhere..

Drogba is almost certain to quit... he is gonna end up with one of the big two from either Italy or Spain. Real, Barca, Inter & Milan.. take your pick.. i'm gonna say he'll end up in Italy.. whether it is Inter or Milan remains to be seen but i rekon Serie A is his next port of call.. imagine Ibra and Didz together:eek:

Milan is where he will go... Inter have Ibra, Cruz, Balotelli and the returning Adriano who are all that taller powerful type of player...

Milan well Ronaldo wont be at his best ever again... Pato cant be expected to do it all by himself at the age of 18, Gilandino is manure, and Mr Tap In's (Inzaghi) is old and over the hill or more like a speed bump in my opinion...

i think man city is a real possibility if they offer him ridiculous wages

Which I think we will.

Still won't come to us though. :(

His brother spent the weekend in Manchester and was at the game on Saturday (not really a great advertisement). Apparently there have been plenty of talks, but he'll still go to a club with a higher profile IMO.

Piqué: I Want To Play Every Week

Manchester United defender Gerard Piqué has revealed that he may have to leave Old Trafford to be guaranteed a starting berth every week. Although his recent run in the first-team has alleviated his immediate short term concerns, the defender has hinted that his future may lie elsewhere.

Sir Alex Ferguson has top-quality cover in every position but his third choice central defender has admitted to being frustrated at having to continually kick his heels on the bench.

Of late, as a result of Nemanja Vidic’s injury, the Catalonian has filled the breach at the heart of United’s resolute defence. “I was a bit upset, but it seems that something has now changed”, he told setantasports.com.

However, his appearances have been extremely limited at Old Trafford, and to date he has played more times for Real Zaragoza (on loan) than he has for his paymasters.

Recently, Piqué has been linked with a return to his native Barcelona but he remains unaware of any concrete offers from the Catalan giants. He said: “I don’t know about Barcelona’s interest. The Spanish Press know more about those stories than me.”

Crucially, the 21 year old’s long term future is not formally set at Old Trafford, with his current deal expiring next summer.

Of his frustrations, Piqué declared: “I don’t know how long I can wait before I play every week,” he said. “This year has been difficult as I want to play more.”

Piqué has insisted that he has made no decision regarding his future, but admitted that he is mulling over his options; “My contract with United ends in 2009, so I have plenty of time to think.”

I can seriously see him leaving... He has the ability to be starting centre back at prob any other club other then the others of the top 4 and i reckon he would push at Arsenal and Liverpool.
