Eto'o, Drogba & Torres In Sensations Swap?

News daily Sport claims that Samuel Eto'o could replace Fernando Torres at Liverpool should El Niño leave for Stamford Bridge. Didier Drogba would complete the triangle by moving to Camp Nou.

Barcelona want Didier Drogba, Chelsea want Fernando Torres, and Liverpool are still looking to free up some funds. The big question is: will they accept Samuel Eto'o and bag of cash to catalyse a three-way swap deal?

Eto'o Heads To The Exit Door

The Cameroonian striker is the only piece in the Barça squad with a pending status, apart from Eidur Gudjohnsen, following the sales of Ronaldinho and Deco to AC Milan and Chelsea, respectively.

Four years after joining the squad, Eto'o finds himself out of new coach Pep Guardiola's plans and on his way out of Camp Nou.

The Catalan club have given the player and his representative, José María Mesalles, the green light to engage in negotiations with the club they see fit and report back to Barça on the offer.

Barcelona were reportedly approached by some clubs in Europe about the African's conditions, especially when it comes to his annual earnings. However none of the teams launched a formal offer.

Liverpool Strong, But For How Long?

Sport claims, meanwhile, that Liverpool are facing economic problems and may be rushed into selling one of their biggest assets, Spanish sensation Fernando Torres.

The Reds are understood to have rejected an initial offer of €60 million coming from Chelsea, but Scolari has not given up on Torres' capture just yet and is lining up an improved bid.

If Torres effectively leaves Anfield, then Eto'o would have a big chance to relaunch his career at Liverpool. The other way of looking at it - which is what interests both Barcelona and Chelsea - is that if the Reds get Eto'o and some cash, they may feel a lot better about letting Torres go, in which case Drogba would move to Camp Nou.

All Hinges On Eto'o

Essentially it all boils down to Liverpool and Eto'o giving the nod to this incredible three way deal. The Cameroonian's plans are still unknown, and he continues to invite interest as he stalls for a final decision - the push from Uzbekistan being the latest example.

It is believed that Barcelona will not use him in the Champions League qualifying round as it would automatically make him ineligible to play in Europe for another team and seriously put in jeopardy his transfer.

Liverpool, in the meantime, stand to make a 30 million euro profit from this incredible three way deal - a sum Rafa Benitez would very much welcome. But will the Reds bite, and agree to part with their star?

One of the funniest things i've read in awhile, even the Yanks/Parry know that they would be literally killed if they allowed such a deal to go through.

Berba and Keane are both on our pre season tour to Spain.

We don't want to sell either but obviously will if the money comes in. Hopefully Berbs goes to Barca though.

Two clubs from England have made bids for Eto'o
One Italian club has...

my guess

Tottenham, Chelsea and AC Milan

Joao Moutinho to Everton. Lock it in now.:)

Where did ya get 10 million from. From the sounds of it you cant afford to buy unless you sell but Moyes doesnt want to sell.

10?

This is a top club in Portugal.

15m minimum.

I reckon we do have funds, just being careful with it. We spent 11 or 12 odd on Yak last year, and had the money to spend on Fernandes before that fell through.

There is an article about that on goal.com

Eto'o Names Interested Clubs
Barcelona striker Samuel Eto’o has revealed that Premiership duo Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur have lodged offers for his services. Internazionale are also standing by...

The Cameroon international is all but certain to leave the Nou Camp in the coming weeks, following the other big name departures of Ronaldinho, Deco and Gianluca Zambrotta.

The 27-year old is mulling over offers from around the world, the most surprising of which came from Uzbekistan side Kuruvchi, though the chances of that deal look increasingly slim despite the enormous financial incentives offered to the player.

Spurs manager Juande Ramos looks likely to be without Dimitar Berbatov, who is keen on a move to Manchester United, and Robbie Keane, with the Republic of Ireland marksman attracting the interest of Liverpool.

Either move would provide the former Seville manager with the necessary funds to complete a deal for the out-of-favour Barca striker, though new Chelsea boss Luiz Felipe Scolari is also set to swoop.

The player, who is likely to make a decision on his future within the next seven days, admitted that both sides are prepared to convert their initial interest into a permanent deal.

“I have offers from Inter, Tottenham and Chelsea,” he said.

The manager of the Catalan-giants, Pep Guardiola, is keen to use the funds generated by Eto’o’s sale to complete a deal for Arsenal forward Emmanuel Adebayor, though Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has quashed talk of a move.

Since there is only 1 quote its slightly dubious to say the least. goal.com can be alright just have to know when its just a writers opinion or when they have actually covered a press conference.

Portugese paper has a quote from the Everton Chief (Keith Wyness) that we are looking at Moutinho (Setanta has the article) and then the Daily Mail had something on Everton bidding up to 18mill.. via the future considerations depending on games and performance etc.

18m is a figure much closer to the mark.

Still question remains, a top young Portugese talent, would he go to Everton?

And do they have the resources to shell out 18m? Possible, but say goodbye to any form of depth.

Everton having no money is a bit of a con I reckon. Comes from Moyes whinging about how tough he's had it, and how good a job he's done under these difficult circumstances.

They've spent the same sort of amounts as most of the clubs around them, and I have no doubt they'd have the money to be able to afford the likes of Moutinho.

As bus24 mentions though, it would have a cost in terms of them probably being unable to afford too many depth players.

Moyes is probably talking about spending in regards to "The top 4" He was lucky as well getting access to some of the Rooney sale money. Everton would be ranked probably mid table in spending I would think since Moyes has been at the helm. Moyes has now stated he wants to bring in 5 to 6 players, he better get a move on.

Also Moomba is Gelson Fernandes any relation to Manuel Fernandes? The article says they are but seems suss to me.

I'd say it'd be around 12mill originally (We can fork that out) and around 6 mill of additional payments depending on how many games he plays.

As for depth... we have some good kids coming up through the ranks at one of the better academies.. plus apparently we have plenty of money for the window.. we'll do Jagielka type buys like usual and if we sell Johnson and buy a Cheaper striker, we can use the extra to buy that central midfield. Topal was only 6mill, so 12+6 = 18 = not too much.

Where he was born was colonised by Portugal (Cape Verde) so it is possible...

I hadn't heard that before. They both have Cape Verde Islands backgrounds, but I would have thought Fernandes is a pretty common name there. I'll ask the question on the City forums.

If the fee was only 12m up front, I think you'd have some competition.
Possibly.. but no one else has bid for him apparently... Who knows what is happening.. I don't, I just wish I did.
