"We're getting him for no cost" probably means that Everton will be paying him the same wages that he was getting at United.
I reckon its Pay Man U as he plays/scores, considering his injury record.

Assuming Berbatov does go won't that still leave Spurs with only two proper strikers? Wow, that's a gamble.

Pekhart is till January and they have a 21 year old in the reserves who could be a benchman. They will probably be fine, but hey Berbs might not leave.

Had the impression Pekhart was for the season, January makes more sense.
Berbs must leave & trust me they have nothing else.
The following just appeared, may have some scope, they desperately need another striker.

Spurs in talks over Milito and Sergio Garcia

Sources close to negotiations with Zaragoza have revealed to GuillemBalague.com that Tottenham are prepared to offer €13 million for Argentine international Diego Milito and €6 million for Spanish international Sergio Garcia.

The news that the pair had been left out of the Zaragoza squad, ahead of their game against Levante at the weekend, led to speculation in the Spanish press yesterday that both players could be on their way to the Premiership.

Both forwards have made little secret of their desire to return to flight football, following Zaragoza's relegation to the Spanish second division at the end of last season, and the local press in Aragon were insistent that their omission from the squad confirmed reports that both players are set to finalise moves this weekend.

It has since emerged that the Zaragoza chairman, Agapito Iglesias, arrived in London yesterday to hold talks with Spurs officials in an attempt to come to an agreement over the pair. The Zaragoza chairman is eager to finalise a deal that will relieve his club of two of its highest wage earners.

However, neither player has featured particularly highly on Tottenham's list of transfer priorities this summer and sources close to negotiations have told GuillemBalague.com that while the London club are offering around €13 million for 29 year old Milito, they are currently only prepared to offer €6 million for Sergio Garcia: a figure that falls well short of Zaragoza's previous €16 million valuation of the 25 year old wing forward.

It remains to be seen how far talks over the pair will progress, but, taking in to account the players' desire to move and the fact that the Zaragoza boss is willing to travel to London in order to resolve the situation, there is clearly plenty of potential for further negotiation.

Moreover, it appears that as the transfer deadline approaches and late deals are concluded - or abandoned - it is clear that nothing can be ruled out, and many clubs, like Tottenham, are having to resort to plan B as their primary objectives fail to materialise.

Another Rasiak waiting to happen here. :(

We're looking at Arshavin, despite him saying the deal won't be closed in time it could still happen:thumbsu:

BTW no way we will get Garcia for €6 Mil.

Also Vedran Corluka is as good as ours:thumbsu:

Lets hope the deals can get done in time.

Well FC has said 12m so that means that it is probably 5-6m.

:D :thumbsu:

how could I forget that one?

Huh? Wha? Where?

What have I missed?

Not exactly thrilled with the signing of Atouba (I thought he was younger), however it provides back-up in an area we need it, so assuming we don't pay more than 2/3m for him, I'm happy enough.

Despite my ordinary spanish.
From the Zaragoza website it is correct that neither Milito or Garcia have been named in the 18 man squad to face Levante.

Signing based on a sensational curling right footed goal (he's left footed) to get Spurs the points at St James about 4 seasons ago.;)
Did f--k all else.

You won't get Milito for that, Zaragoza's been in negotiations with Valencia for him for weeks as Valencia won't anymore than €12m for him. Zaragoza want over €15m. That's why he isn't playing.

Cheers DB.
Whole story could be just to force Valencia's hand.

I wouldn't be so sure.

If we don't close the deal for Zabaleta then no, might not move even if we do get Zabaleta.

As for Milito, we have a bid in for him as well, although the feeling is that he's not too keen on a move to England.

Punched Joey Barton in a league match a few years back, and then made some noises about racial abuse to get off the 3 match ban. Could be interesting at training.

Yeah, on Stephen Carr's home debut. Knew we'd signed a spud the minute he ushered him inside to shoot.

Pound for pound Bobby's worst signing ever.

I think we're all getting you mixed up with Bus' transfer cost gurantees.

Apologies my friend.
