I thought Rafa was insane with his transfer fee demands for Craig Bellamy.

Who's played about 5 games for West Ham?

Still, if he was still around we would've been in Moscow. Would've put money on him taking a club to Riise again.

I'm not sure what the difference in winnings is between the Semis and the Runners Up/Champions.

But selling him has probably proved a bad move from a financial standpoint.

Should've belted the ____er much harder the last time.

It'll be interesting to see which club he sucks into paying 12mil plus for Crouch (like a few others, my money is on Spurs :D )

I'll go for Newcastle. Who will also buy Riise and Pennant.

:p

Not even they would take Voronin

I stopped laughing when West Ham paid 7.5mil for him.

hahah yep, Spurs!!!!!! But if they decide to pull out, I can only see two other clubs paying 12 million for spider-man.

Raul and Iker are our two highest paid players. They are on crazy money. Guti will be getting something similar when he signs his lifetime contract shortly. We reward loyalty very well.

That is very nice and all but pretty silly. Apart from Casillas, they're past their peak - Real should be better off getting in players of the quality of Essien or Anderson because Gago, Guti, Sneijder and Diarra are not CL winning material, I think.

All quality. :D

btw, what will Rafa be doing this transfer window? 30mil on 3 average/overpriced players or spend the whole lot on one star signing?

Apparently Gattuso has agreed terms with Bayern. This leaves Bayern and Milan to agree a fee and he's playing in Germany next season.

Well the Yanks are skint. So if they stay, maybe 5-10m + sales. Which he'll spend on Barry + a whole lot of dross to replace the players he has sold.

However if DIC come in, the summer probably looks much brighter. Rafa hinted yesterday that the "situation will soon be resolved", so whether that means DIC buying GG's 50% or Hicks getting full control I'm not sure.

The DIC thing would make sense, given the strong rumours that Hicks can no longer block GG from selling after May 27th.

Well I hope so anyway. Hicks owning 100% would be an absolute nightmare. :o

I think once DIC have a foot in the door, they can take Hicks out of the picture. (I hope literally)

But back to the Transfers, if G+H are gone, we can look at some much better targets. So I'd say Rafa will be prepared for that. However it's probabaly likely that he'll still want to waste millions on sheer crap squad players, as well as signing some quality.

All depends on the ownership saga.

And there was some guy from one of the papers in Birmingham on the radio, apparently saying that the Barry deal has been done for weeks. The way Rafa's talking about it (already suggesting where he can fit into the team if Alonso stays) it looks like it could be done.

I've heard that Arsenal are preparing to make an offer for Barry and Martin O'Neil wants something closer to ₤20 million.

€6m a season for four years:eek:. He currently earns €4.5m at Milan.

I cant agree with you as they only have just come together as a midfield and in their first year they have won la liga. If they dont continue to improve and we dont at least make the semi finals of CL then i will agree with you.

Apparently we've made a 20m Euro bid for Miguel Veloso.

Plenty of other clubs are interested, but we're the first to table an offer.

Another player where Newcastle follow Spurs. You have no chance with Veloso....He's ours :)

I'd be willing to bet on Crouch not coming to Spurs.

David Bentley is the most overrated footballer on the planet at the moment.

Technically competent (like Barry) but certainly not the type of wide player Liverpool should be looking at.

David Bentley plays in team without any bona fide superstars and produces good performance week in-week out. His crosses are just as good as Beckhams and he is exactly the player Liverpool needs to look at because that is a weak spot atm.

This is why i can't understand Liverpool's rationale in getting Gareth Barry as good a player as he is... there are 3 world class central midfielders already in the team.

David Bentley on the other hand would be a fantastic signing as we're not exactly blessed with great wingers on either the left or right hand side.

Gareth barry doesn't suit Liverpool atm, unless there's something going on behind the scenes and Gerard is on the move....then yes, we might need him.

Chelsea made a 30 million pound offer for Sergio Ramos this week it seems making him the most expensive defender ever. Good player but too much surely

Well, how much did they pay for Shevchenko? One of the flops of the century. Ballack has been a good signing however and is actualy better player than Lampard because he's got all of Lampards qualities plus he's very strong in the air. Look how many headers he scored. I don't like Ramos as a player and wouldn't like to see him playing for Liverpool, but at Chelsea, who cares :)

Scholes isn't hanging up the boots but when fit and playing he's been quite average.

The Barca goal was great, his form however.... has not been.

Is it 'form' as such or is it a case of him playing to his ever reducing ability?

Scholes is old and in the twilight of his career. He's handy player at best atm and criticising him at his age now is unfair.

He's also ridiculously over-rated/overpriced. IMO a good player. Not much more than that though.

He'll cost 15m+, and to pay that is just insane. He'll probably end up at Chelsea.

You can bet Arsenal have a very meaty sell-on clause.

The interest in Barry is because Alonso could leave and/or because Lucas and Mascherano will both miss a few big games as they will be at the Olympics.

A report in Spain suggests we've been negotiating with Real Madrid for Alonso for a few weeks.

From what I can work out from the dodgy translation, looks like £21m. Or £18m + de la Red.

If we can get over 20m for Alonso, it will be an amazing piece of business.

I'd be willing to bet on Crouch not coming to Spurs.

If you're prepared to offer more than 20m Euros, you're more than welcome to him, because he's not worth any more than that.

Come on, how funny would it be to see a player who came through the Spurs academy get bought by the club for £15 million 8 years after they let him go? ;)

Rafa needs to address our real problems rather than patching our holes, why bother buying a cm/dm to cover lucas and masher when our obvious real need is a winger and to a lesser extent strike partner for torres.

McGeady should seriously be looked at, however would much rather bring in an established player. Someone like Mancini or Navas would be ideal, I know I am dreaming. Would love Navas though!!

Liverpool definately need to be looking at a decent wide player this offseason. Guys like Silva, Ribery, Quaresma, Mancini should def be on their list. A striker to partner Torres' scraps would be decent too, someone of the Martins, Villa, Defoe etc style player.

I'm hoping Man Utd go and get Phillip Lahm plus a big striker. Would love Berbatov, but think Tottenham will price him out of our hands.

Ibra for Eto'o is doing the rounds..

feasable? smart move? which team wins here? i love ibra but i'd be worried if we did that deal.. would probably have a negative impact on our team but i'd just love ibrahimovic in the blue and red!

He'd be handy as a bigger striker holding up the ball a bit more and having guys like Messi around him.

I'd say Barca would slightly come out on top if this happened.
