So Ramsey off to Arsenal.

____ing hilarious seeing Man Utd had a "United Sign Ramsey" story up on their official site :D

Is that official? If so, disappointing. :thumbsd:

Very.

Man Utd would have shipped him back to us on loan. Arsenal will do nothing of the sort and he will be playing Reserves for 08/09.

Another we have had to sell to follow in the footsteps of Earnshaw, Gabbidon, Collins, Kavanagh, Jerome and Chopra.
All the best to him, we do need the money although the 5 million pounds better be invested into signings.

The Guardian report said that Wenger had promised Ramsay some first team football in 08/09.

Everton were never in the hunt. Arsenal got over the line because Ramsay would be at Arsenal, he'd play first team football, and Wenger flew the kid and his family over to his holiday for a face to face meeting. With all that, you really can't blame Ramsay for his choice.

I like how Arsene blatantly lies to get youngsters over to the club. Im sure Theo Walcott heard the same stories Aaron did only to find himself benched for useless spuds like Eboue. He has been warned. Very bad move. Very bad.

Am I the only one who thinks its completely crazy that Liverpool are gonna effectively trade Alonso for Barry. I mean Alonso is a better player (just) and is better at the role they want Barry to play then Barry (I imagine deep lying midfielder in 4-2-3-1 is what he will do). I like Barry as a bench option for a side like Chelsea but starting in the central midfield ahead of Alonso isnt something hes good enough to do. Poor move IMO

I see Alonso as the more talented player, but he hasn't hit the heights he did earlier in his Liverpool career/should've.

I wouldn't think Barry would sit as deep as Alonso has of recent times either.

I don't mind it from a league perspective. Barry is a proven performer, much more mobile, will get forward a fair bit more as more of an attacking threat, and is a great option to take set pieces.

Alonso hasn't really shown what he's capable of recently, for whatever reason that is, and I think Rafa knows that he's probably reached the end of the line at Liverpool.

No doubt he'll go to Spain/Italy and be an absolute world beater IMO. He'll get time on the ball, and he'll cut sides to shreads with that amazing passing range he has.

Will bid 14m for Garry Barry today, according to reports.

I'd imagine that will get it done.

If not. It's time to walk away.

Sources are questionable (The Sun & Goal.com) but this is a rumour thread:

Torsten Frings to Arsenal - 4 million
Liverpool lining up a bid for Bendtner - 6 million. Bendtner has more potential for the future than Crouch. Benitez values crouch at 15 million. wtf??

Someone got bored and made it up. Quite obviously. But anyway,

Benitez doesnt value Crouch at 15. Just a price to add a few million to what bidders were prepared to pay. It seems to have worked too. 10m looks likely.

Crouch is a better player than Bendtner at present IMO. That's why his value is higher. Potential won't affect Crouch/Bendtner prices very much at all because the difference in talent/potential is pretty small.

I could see you selling Bendtner for not too far off that, to a mid-lower premier league side.

Because

1) You wouldn't sell to a top 4 club.

2) He's not at the level where a top 4 club would be prepared to pay the money Arsenal would want from a rival for him. (At present)

I don't know if 2) is right at all.

For the role he'd play at Liverpool and the potential he has, I could see Benitez being very interested.

But Arsenal would demand more money from a top 4 club if they were interested, than they would demand from a West Ham/Newcastle etc. IMO.

It'd be common sense.

I'd be interested at 6m, but lets be honest, Arsenal would want double from a rival, and I don't blame them.
