"Interested" Thats about it so far. None of them have made anything more than a "Oh so thats who that is". We have no chance of breaking the top 4? What a laugh. You have no clue on Football whatsoever, straight to the ignore list.

haha

"ignore list", i like that. i suppose it helps you live in your world of denial.

i'll spell it for ya again.

EVERTON HAVE NO CHANCE OF MAKING THE TOP 4

i can just see you now with hands over your ears and your eyes shut: "no, no, say it isn't true, this is all just a dream"

Have you guys offered a bid?

Mate, you guys do great, really, i tip my hat to Everton i like how they do things, but you aren't finishing top 4. Snap back to reality.

Please give good reasons why Everton can't challenge Liverpool for a spot in the top 4.

Because they don't have the same appeal for players.

The squad isn't good enough, or deep enough (as we saw at the end of last season when they dropped away)

They don't have the same financial clout (Even with Twit and Twat in charge)

Don't have the fanbase to generate the coin.

If we drop out of the top 4, I'd expect to be replaced by Spurs, Man City or Aston Villa (if they add quite a few players to a squad that lacks depth)

They've (especially the first 2) all got far more financial power and far more appeal than Everton have, or could dream of.

We have 200 times the heart that Liverscum do. We dont play for money, we play for pride. Only 3 players at Liverpool do that. Torres, Gerrard and Carragher.

Oh, make no mistake about it, they can certainly "challenge" for it, but they won't get it.

As I said, i have great respect for Everton and what they have done under Moyes, but something seriously dramatic would have to happen for them to break into the top 4. It won't happen.

I realise the 10 points or so they finished off 4th last season may seem like a relatively small margin to overcome but i can assure you it isn't.

I'll wait till the end of the transfer period to make a serious prediction but imo Everton should be more concerned about their ability to hold onto 5th spot rather than wasting energy dreaming of breaking into the top 4.

Or the Irons.

Seriously though, I reckon thats some pretty full on Liverpool bias suggesting those 3 clubs could finish in the 4 but Everton couldn't.

Was only 3 or so seasons ago that we did finish in the top 4 and i am sure if this topic was brought up at the start of that season the same things would be said by 'pool fans that we wouldn't be able to break in.

If Torres was to go down with a season long injury I reckon Liverpool would be in alot of strife.

Make no mistake, Liverpool are in a lot of strife. Torres aside, world class players simply do not want to sign for Liverpool. They will never challenge for the league whilst Rafa is in charge and will slide to 5th or 6th this season.

Oh really?

Or we can't afford them?

Not every side can go out and spend 50-70m each window.

Very few "world class' players around anyway. Define "world class" though. Very subjective.

If Rafa wasn't here, we'd be wallowing around in mid-table already.

He's a very big reason why we've been able to sign the players of enough quality to keep us up the pointy end.

That was so wrong on so many levels, it almost sounds like you could be a w***er pundit on Sly Sports.

And yes, I'll admit my bias against Everton ;)

But can they keep overperforming and finishing ahead of sides with more quality?

I think we can slide out of the top four. I just don't think Everton would be the team to replace us. I'd put Villa and Spurs ahead of them.

Okay. Torres is world class. Pennant/ Bennayoun/ Voronin are not world class. A couple more players of Torres's ilk and you can win the league. However signing the likes of Degen and Dossena will not enable you to overtake Chelsea or Arsenal and certainly not Man United.

If Rafa keeps up these 'nothing' signings your position in the top 4 is looking precarious. Spurs have already splashed out about 25 million on two players that have improved the team massively. Why can't Rafa do the same?

How was that so wrong. Liverpool want to win the league so badly, yet every season are not even challenging. That is not good enough.

villa are on track to have a squad of 12 players next season.

take a look at last seasons squad size (the smallest), the players who left in January and now (about five) and how they haven't been replaced.

it's actually possible that with a couple of injuries next season villa won't be able to field the minimum amount of players required to contest a match.

But Villa and spurs consistently under perform. As the very old cliche goes a champion team will always beat a team of champions, not that Everton are a champion team nor do spurs or villa have champions in their squad but you get my point.

If we continue on outperforming these teams then better players are going to want to come to us.

Will be interesting to see how it pans out and if we can continue to perform like last season... aka if Timmy can stay fit.

Muamba joined Bolton for 5 mill. I cant believe more clubs werent in for him. Good little player. If Bolton can get 2 strikers in they are gonna have a good side next year. Megson certainly knows what hes doing in the transfer market even if he does overpay a bit

Might well have been more clubs in for him, but he picked Bolton? Who knows. Good signing for Bolton. :)

Villa and Spurs.. the two teams we nailed last year and Spurs finished 3 pts above us the year before (iirc), so its not like they completely own us. Hell the season just gone by we finished in fifth despite missing Timmy for half the season, Yakubu and Yobo for a month, and towards the end of the season having 1 fit striker from 4. Arteta our best player was also constantly injured.

Brum fans seem to be happy his gone because he cant pass the ball. Well I wouldnt pass the ball to Damien Johnson either. From what I seen his passing isnt great but when Nafti is your partner in crime and not being a option your passes are a bit more extravagant. Will fit in well with Boltons style of play

They paid 5 mill because 1.5 of that has to go to Arsenal as part of the sell on clause... 3.5 mill for Brum. They MUST spend that on a creative central midfielder

How come people keep throwing Villa up to be one of the teams to replace Liverpool should they drop out of the top 4? Spurs and City, definitely a chance yes given their spending power. Everton quite possibly, still have an excellent first 11. Villa though? Well I have my doubts... Perhaps someone would like to shed some light as to why?

Everton have more quality than many give them credit for. The likes of Yobo, Lescott, Arteta and Cahill wouldn't look out of place at the top sides and they have the right number of work horses around them to be capable of beating anyone on their day. With the addition of a couple of real quality players they could easily challenge the top 4 imo. It depends on them getting those couple of players though and then having luck with injuries, suspensions etc. Spurs could end up anywhere and Villa need to buy some players so Everton are probably just ahead of them at this stage imo.

BTW David Bentley officially handed in a transfer request yesterday. Off to Man City I reckon

Don't forget Yakubu either. Jaglielka has come on in leaps and bounds and has just won his first national cap (albeit with lowly England).

We need a classy right back so Moyes will stop playing Hibbert. Another striker, Andy Johnson aint what he used to be.

Jagielka goes into the work horse group imo. Not that that is an insult he's a very good player and every team need them. Yakubu isn't top quality (just below imo) and I agree you need another very good striker to really challenge the top sides. If I were to objectively look at your squad I'd say you need a RB, LM, CM and CF with the LM CM CF needing to be top top quality. Then you'd be right up there imho.

That's the thing, people keep banging on about Liverpool being a one man team with Torres, but look what happened when Timmy went out of the side.

You went from challenging for 4th spot, to finishing a long way behind in 5th.
