The complex agreement involves Zarate joining Lazio initially on a loan deal reportedly worth £2.3million, with the club able to buy half the rights to the player before next May for £4.3million.

They can then buy the remaining half a year later for £6.7million.

Potentially £13.3m.

Quite a bit of dough. Although structured like that, if they end up paying that much, it'll be because he's been a big success.

Can't help thinking Al Sadd got taken for a ride, looking at the structure of it. Although they hardly need the coin.

I think/hope we're actually buying players proven in the league. Which is true to an extent I'd imagine.

However, the home grown/club trained quota has gone up again this year hasn't it? That's got to be a factor as well.

I like Keane though. Proven scorer over a number of years. Good signing, and he's better than Crouch, Kuyt and the Divine Ponytail by a long, long way.

I don't think we've actually bid as such. Just enquired.

Crouch +5m or so would amount to about 15m, given the probable fee of around 10m.

However, I can't see Ramos wanting Crouch, nor can I see Crouch not wanting to go to Pompey.

Although London might suit the billy-bigtime he's become.

The 15m was always an unrealistic fee to try and bump up the price by a few mil.

I dont agree with moombas point on Adebayor. If your work output increases in any real job you get a payrise to match it. Its common sense. Work and produce more = get paid more. Arsenal should stop offering players insulting contracts like 50k a week and join us all in the real world. Hell even Sunderland would pay him 50k a year. Hes easily worth 80k a week despite peoples opinions on him.

Taking that attitude may be why West Ham can't afford to buy any players. And if Adebayor was in a real job, he would probably have started the year on formal written warnings by now for underperformance. Quite a jump to quadruple his salary after a decent 10 months work.

Aston Villa overpaying for players has more to it than the squad size.

I mean they paid 4 million for Harewood last season. The squad was still small but Villa had no need for such desperation.

Villa need to bring about 7-8 players in. At least.

They don't have a choice.

The squad was already too small and they'll lose at least 4 or 5 before next season. (about 3 have already gone)

3 or 4 of those will need to be young players. Decent, affordable ones from Leicester or somewhere.

Im annoyed some of that garbage hasnt been sold yet. Why Gabbidon is still at the club is beyond me. Should of been shipped last year when he carried on like a spoilt brat declaring us relegated with 5 games to go and already packing his bags. One of Cole or Zamora has to be sold surely. Sunderland would pay 4 mill for either I think. They NEED a striker like this with no Kenwyne Jones for atleast 6 months.
