Roy Keane makes me laugh.

Someone said the other day. What choice does he have? I said umm overseas. Correct me if im wrong but since his time at Sunderland hes bougnt NO players from Serie A, La Liga, Bundesliga etc. The only league he has bought players from is the EPL, Craig Gordon and That Prica bloke who was from the Turkish leagues.

Might be time for Roy to look outside the bubble. Speaking of ridiculously overpriced players I see Stoke payed 5.5 million for Dave Kitson. I thought he would of been handy for 3 mill or so but 5.5. That is insane especially for a club with a limited budget like Stoke.

Spurs complain over duo
Clubs' interest in Keane and Berbatov elicits angry response

Liverpool and Manchester United have been reported to the Premier League by Tottenham Hotspur following their respective interest in Robbie Keane and Dimitar Berbatov.

Awaiting moomba's response in 5, 4, 3, 2....

Im sure moomba will agree. For the first time in their history, Spurs are right.

Not saying Spurs aren't right - I'm just waiting for moomba to go through Spurs' rap sheet.

Oh, and as for Sunderland's 23m bid for the Spurs quartet.....

Sunderland’s ambitious attempt to sign four Tottenham Hotspur players for a combined fee of £23 million foundered yesterday when Younès Kaboul’s agent said that the defender would not move to Wearside “even if there was an earthquake”.

:D

Kaboul wants to go to Pompey and Chimbonda to Everton. Cattermole is expected to join Wigan, and Makelele is probably off to PSG.

Getting rejected by Younes Kaboul. Is there anything sadder? In all honesty I cant see Malbranque licking his lips about joining Sunderland either. Im not so sure why they would want him anyway. The wings is the only position they actually have depth in

He actually accused another club of hypocricy when it comes to transfer dealings.

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha (a million times over).

Other than the utter hilarious hypocrisy of it all, it's quite humourous that it's really only ever "the big clubs are tapping up our players" rant.

I've seen Aston Villa players pleading for Bentley to come through the press, same goes for Sidwell. Hell, Redknapp was on SSN ranting on about how great Kaboul is and how much he wants to sign him.

But lets all pick on the big clubs, :D

Oh and Spurs complaining about tapping up :D

If you think it's only the big clubs that "tap up" think again. They just tap up better footballers.

Only thing to take out of Levy's rant is that Berbatov will be at United, and Keane will be at Liverpool. Just one final show of "we're a big club too you know" for the fans.

Bus, I would like to see some sources that indicate Keane is going to Liverpool...

You seem to be the only one who thinks this is going through

We'll see I guess.

I've got no reason to doubt any of our ITK's. When all of them are saying the same thing, it probably means it's pretty likely.

I think Levy's comments say it all really. They both want out. I think they'll both go. Spurs will get handsome fees for both. Ramos' silence (other than a pretty basic sort of interview) has been interesting too.

It's going to be interesting to see what you guys do though. It's going to be a whole new squad :p. Which is probably expected, as the manager builds the team he wants.

Good signing for Stoke. Surely you're not suggesting he's worth less than half of what West Ham got for Bobby Zamora, Kitson a much better footballer (despite being a ginger and a bit of a gobshite).

Sounds like betting time. I guarantee you Zamora outscores Kitson. Guarantee it.

I agree its a round about way of saying they are going. Just need to extract as much $$$ as possible.

Tough to replace the likes of these 2 while the clock continues to tick. Hopefully they have a few suprises up there sleeves.
You would think with the massive expected turnover they would have a tough job early in the season.

I don't know why Levy is complaining. Both United and Liverpool have put in formal bids for Berbatov and Keane respectively, but instead of saying "Not for Sale" or putting on a prohibively high transfer fee, Spurs have pretty much said, "Keane can go for 20mil plus and Berbatov is yours for 30mil". By putting on a fee that's in a negotiable range, it indicates that Spurs are willing to sell.

Look forward to you posting a direct post from a Spurs representative stating that these are the prices.

In fact this goes completely against direct quotes from Levy.
"We told both clubs very early on that we had no interest in selling Robbie or Dimitar, respectively, and that they should refrain from pursuing the player. Both clubs arrogantly chose to ignore this request and we now have evidence that both clubs have systematically been working to prise the players away from us, outside of PL rules of conduct."

Had no interest in selling - to most people I would have thought = not for sale. Look forward to your interpretation.

Interesting SAF is denying the quotes attributed to himself, doubt you would get a journalist to stand up against him anyway (the denial may in fact be true). Get the journalist that did print it then SAF & sue...... sure he has an intimate knowledge of the suing process. Horse racing ethusiasts know where I'm coming from.

Rafa has gone quiet which is quite out of character, for a bloke that seems to enjoy his own publicity. Guilt often makes people do things out of character.

Clearly both players will go, but I'm sure Ramos didn't count on Keane defecting.

Defoe would be having a laugh right about now. I guess its all up to Bent now!

When Defoe left, Keane stated he was happy at WHL and was not thinking of leaving in the near future. Ha.

It'd be interesting to see the last time the finer details of price negotiations were done in public.

You'd be naive to think that no club uses the press to release "strategic" leaks to unsettle players and/or get a better price.

It's no different to the Carrick deal. There were no direct quotes, but eventually, the deal was done. The guys at Lyon are masters at saying "this player won't be sold" only to sell for a record fee when their demands are met.

So, do you believe Levy? If so, then why do you believe that both players will go?

Again, this is just part of the silly game that clubs and players play over transfers.

I laughed when Bayern reported United over Hargreaves. I laughed again when United reported Real Madrid over Ronaldo. And I'm laughing now that Spurs are reporting United and Liverpool.

I'm not sure what the significance of naming the price is. Is there any real difference between saying something like "we've put in an £x million pound bid for Player A, and saying "We have made a bid for Downing, our biggest bid". (copyright M.Jol)

You'd also have to look at this article, and wonder why Gus Poyet was praising a Middlesbrough player for his performance in a game against Liverpool, or how indeed Downing had been made "aware and flattered by the interest from Tottenham".

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/main.jhtml?xml=/sport/2008/01/14/ufntot114.xml

And it's not just Downing, Spurs have been doing this for years. And Levy, the biggest hypocrite of all has been in the thick of it.

I might have to ask a Crystal Palace supporter where I've heard quotes like "had no interest in selling" before. As it is, saying that is pretty much the equivalent of saying "we don't really want to sell, but if he does go we want more money".

Interesting SAF is denying the quotes attributed to himself, doubt you would get a journalist to stand up against him anyway (the denial may in fact be true). I actually believe the wino. I do because when the story first broke it was reported that Ferguson had made a bid for a player "that would significantly improve the team", but Sky were saying that Ferguson had refused to identify the player or club concerned. It was only later in the day (when Ferguson was presumably still on a plane to South Africe) that people were talking about Berbatov. Now I have no doubt that the media would have been briefed, but lets face it. Daniel Levy is no stranger to those tactics is he.

Rafa has gone quiet which is quite out of character, for a bloke that seems to enjoy his own publicity. Guilt often makes people do things out of character.

Hasn't seemed to have bothered Levy too much.

In your orginal post you critice Spurs for not saying "Not for Sale". What part of had no interest in selling taken directly from the quote from Levy do you not comprehend?
Thats the part I am having a go at. They said they have no interest in selling, yet you seem to interpret this as you came have him for whatever price.

Read what you orginally wrote again......Spurs have pretty much said, "Keane can go for 20mil plus and Berbatov is yours for 30mil".
How does no interest in selling become this?
Via a MU endorsed interpreter?

Agreed this is certainly part of the silly games that come around in silly season.

Smoke and fire? In the 25 or so years that I've followed United, it's been the same pattern. Selective leaks to the media, unsourced quotes, and this long game of clubs officially denying things and threatening each other and then.....a transfer goes through. Of course I don't have any solid proof of the fees being discussed, but having seen these games enough, I reckon what I said about the fees is fair enough.

If you're accepting what Levy said, then why do you believe that Berbatov and Keane will be leaving Spurs?

You can always tell whose gonna be bought and sold by who did and didnt travel on your clubs pre season tour. From us the noticable absentees without a injury excuse like Dyer Upson and Bowyer are

Ljungberg - Maybe gets a few weeks off extra because of Euro?

George McCartney - Club are saying hamstring but if Sunderland come back in and bid 6-7 mill how could we say no? I mean we did buy him off them for 500k just 2 years ago

James Collins - Was injured but is fit now. Has been linked to West Brom and Stoke.

Danny Gabbidon - Please someone buy this ****.

Nigel Quashie - I still reckon hes dead. Rumored that hes off to Nottingham Forest for free.

Richard Wright - Ipswich bound for 1 mill
