Everton are apparently in talks to sign Lars Jacobsen (Unattached).. Don't know too much, he's 28 and an international for his country (Denmark), so if he is a decent squad player I'd be happy as its a Free.

Everton have today confirmed they are on the verge of their first signing of the summer after David Moyes agreed a deal to recruit Denmark international Lars Christian Jacobsen on a free transfer.

The news came on Bank Holiday Monday afternoon following discussions with Blues officials and the 28-year-old's advisers.

Jacobsen has been on Merseyside at Everton's Finch Farm headquarters and will sign a one-year agreement subject to finalising a medical examination on Tuesday morning.

A right-sided defender, Jacobsen spent last season at UEFA Cup opponents FC Nuremberg - making a total of seven appearances. However, he did not feature against the Toffees in the 2-0 victory.

He started his career at Odense in 1996, making a total of 112 appearances before making his first move to the Bundesliga with SV Hamburg.

Sandwiched between his spells in Germany was a three year period at FC Copenhagen where he gained valuable experience in the Champions League and helped his side to the Danish Superliga in 2003–04, 2005-06 and 2006–07.

Jacobsen has been his country's first choice at right back since 2006 but has missed out on the World Cup and Euro 2008 tournaments after Denmark failed to qualify.

I would have thought that getting a player of questionable quality on a free is far better than paying money for players of questionable quality....you know, like Pennant, Kewell, Kuyt, Bellamy, and the countless others duds they've spent money on over the years.

Considering the differing financial situations between Liverpool and Everton, I reckon Moyes has probably gotten more value for money for his club than Benitez has.

I would have thought that getting a player of questionable quality on a free is far better than paying money for players of questionable quality....you know, like Pennant, Kewell, Kuyt, Bellamy, and the countless others duds they've spent money on over the years.

You are correct, Cavani has not proven anything, but when has Bellamy proven that he is unsellable? Never IMO. His injuries just irritate the crap out of me. Same with Ferdinand, he was injured a heap last season as well. Whats the point in having these players that are just going to get injured? You just end up paying their wages and you get nothing from them!

Not really. Atleast im assuming replacements are coming in. Most other information suggests no one is coming in. Infact im being positive by suggesting two loan signings are coming in to replace Anton and co.
