Not that I really post on this board but I'd like to confirm I've been a long term suffering City fan so don't jump one me if I make the occasional post when they start coming good

Disagree about accepting a few weeks ago. A few weeks ago we had spent a net total of about 3m. We had done most of our spending and were perparing to buy more when Liverpool threw 20m at us for Keane, meaning we definitely had the money to spend on players regardless of Berbs leaving or not.

We have known realistically that Berbs was going for the past 24 months and waited til the last week of the transfer season to buy a striker that plays a similar role.

Man Utd were always going to pay the 27-28m required, waiting meant we got an extra 5.7m thanks to City.

Considering that you have netted a profit with your transfer dealings this offseason, I hardly believe that it was in your best interest to wait that extra 2 weeks in order to gain an extra few million pounds. Clearly there is no way to prove this but I reckon that the sale of Berbatov 2 weeks ago would've ensured that Arshavin would now be in your books. It's not like you were even playing Berbatov. Levvy screwed your club.

So you're saying that the money was available, and yet, with the knowledge that Berbatov was going to leave, you're now going to play with one striker short? So, why didn't you buy an extra striker? Who stuffed up? Levy?

If the above rumour of Spurs making a late bid for Carlton Cole is true, then the situation may have been that Levy was only going to release funds once he allowed the Berbatov sale to go through.

I'm sure that 30mil in cash will be doing a magnificent job of scoring goals for Spurs.

For all this stuff about Spurs wanting to get into the top 4, surely building a balanced squad is far more important than Levy getting his ego satisfied by getting a few extra million for a player?

He's a good prospect (a bit hard to say how good exactly he'll be), but it's just surprising that Everton were willing to pay that much coz I can't imagine his real market value being that high already. Looks like a last-minute panic purchase to me.

On the other side he was being followed by several clubs and the English game will probably suit him.

Building a sqaud is much more important. Judging by our dealings with the whole Arshavin thing it seems like the monmey was there a few weeks ago. There was no need to wait until Berbatov was sold before releasing the funds.

I have no problem with waiting the extra few days for the 5m, its the spending -16m that has me pissed off.
