Transgender - Part 2

Please be aware that the tolerance of anti-trans language on BF is at an all-time low. Jokes and insults that are trans-related, as well as anti-trans and bigoted rhetoric will be met with infractions, threadbans etc as required. It's a sensitive (and important) topic, so behave like well-mannered adults when discussing it, PARTICULARLY when disagreeing. This equally applies across the whole site.

Watching the Spotlight show again now on 7 plus. The presenter's name is Liam Bartlett. I think that transitioning, as in full reassignment, is not the solution for eveyone. Among all the stories the Spotlight show highlights all I see is pain. People wondering where they fit in in life and so desperately unhappy with who they were at the time.

Some such as Courtney couldn't deal with how the hormones were making them feel and ultimately decided it wasn't worth it for them. Understandable. Others sought assurance from voices online and thought a permanent solution would solve that confusion only to reconsider later. Again, understandable.

There are no easy solutions, as each person is at a different stage and in a different mindset. There is no 'all one way or the other' on a spectrum and so there are no 'one solution fits all' answers to be found here.

The thing is, for many it IS the answer. I read that in the US an extreme minority regret transitioning;

"

For every story of regret how many stories of success?

It is a tough situation regarding age, I admit. At twelve years of age how many of us can say we want permanent change in life? I think there is scope for more non-permanent gender exploration at that age, but what of parents who refuse to even acknowledge that transitioning may be a solution for their son or daughter's pain? Are the parents' beliefs then detrimental to their child's overall welfare?

What happens then?

Again, there are no 'one solution fits all' answers here. And there won't be any solutions to find at all unless there is raw data to study. Practical as well as academic. To know if a solution is wrong or right one must have examples to learn from.
Courtney was discussed a little when they were on the 4 corners special recently.

Seems they are becoming a go to detransioner for these sorts of stories.

Their YouTube channel has some pretty long bows drawn on it about big pharma and autism and trans healthcare

"everywhere you move there is a health professional trying to trans your child"

These people are nucking futs.
They are. There are most certainly areas of concern that they could stick to, to legitimise their opposition. But no, they go off that deep end there and expose their agenda. They don't give a f*ck about the children. They really don't.

Detransition rates differ between sources, and those sources depend upon how detransitioning is defined.

More controversy for the Spotlight show on de-transitioning...

...Channel 7 journalist Liam Bartlett says in the promo that "children are being told they should change from boy to girl, or girl to boy, from as young as 12-years-old".

At this point in the clip, multiple photos of children before and after their gender transitions are shown, including Ms Hyland's.

Spotlight's program voiceover continues with the claim that "thousands of kids are doing it and regretting it".

Ms Hyland told her followers that the clip "makes it look like I'm one of the kids that regrets it".

"I transitioned at 13 and do not regret it at all," Ms Hyland said...

Speaks volumes.

Going to a barbecue on Sat at a friend's house and her neighbour was mowing the lawn. My son shit himself (very brave) and I said "don't worry I don't think she'll run you over" and she laughed. As I got closer I wasn't sure whether I got the "she" part right. I looked at my wife like "did I **** up?"

Anyway our friend said that I did get the right pronoun, I'm so woke man!

I found this article very interesting seemingly normal guy completely down the rabbit hole.

I only saw this because the guy made the mistake of having a go at an actor that apparently everyone in the world likes

Now this is where I get confused by anti trans activists.

You can of course, be concerned about Children and you can of course be concerned about women's safe spaces and even concerned about women's sports.

But why in this manner ? Why call someone a groomer like that ? If your wife leaves you because of your views, isn't that a sign ?

In the article Graham espouses every single talking point of heard from anti trans posters here (not all of them obviously). But I've read a couple of articles/interviews with the guy, he clearly cares more about being anti trans, than he does about women and children.

Also where do these talking points come from ?

As I said I'm not anti people being concerned for things they don't understand or even don't agree with. I just don't get the method or the need to create conspiracy.

yeah including his own family
he's divorced and his kids don't talk to him over this
he's recently released a book where he blames trans activists for his career and personal life being trashed but its been him being a bigot that's done it

he's pretty far out there, to the point a lot of the anti trans people in the UK don't want to be associated with him

Linehan is so far down the rabbit hole. Lost his marriage too!

That's what I don't understand.

Why are people going so far down the rabbit hole on this.

Why are they losing their civility on this topic, or is it a case of if not this topic, another (like COVID )

being a transphobe seems to literally rot the brain, at a certain point it becomes the only thing they talk about, everything gets linked back to it, its an obsession

I know, this is what I mean.

Why this topic, he seems reasonably normal outside this issue.

Why. Why blow your life up for something that impacts such a tiny portion of the community. I don't get it.
and literally doesn't impact him at all

the announced hospital ban is pretty ****ed up too

really ignores the fact that cis men are often put in the women's ward if there is no room for them elsewhere, that the staff aren't all women, that people wander in anyway

just more demonizing and excluding of trans women for political points

and literally doesn't impact him at all
That is also the part that blows my mind with most anti trans people, it doesn't even impact them.

It's always them 'protecting women and children'. Baffling.

Edit- trying to reflect my sarcasm

there was a massive thing recently where a cis woman was talking about a medical procedure

the medical procedure is called a transvaginal ultrasound

this set the transphobes off and they started attacking her for wasting health department resources on her fake vagina because they literally have no clue

pointing out that it had nothing to do with being trans didn't work, they just piled on getting more and more deranged for days

a lot of the transphobes piling on were women too so its not like its just guys with no idea getting cooked by this stuff

So, according to the Australian Human Rights Commission, sex no longer means biological sex, but rather the pronouns one chooses.

"The commissioner submits that the word ‘sex’ is not a biological concept referring to whether a person at birth had male or female physical traits,” the AHRC said in its decision. “Nor is it a binary concept, limited to the ‘male’ or ‘female’ sex.

“‘Sex’ can refer to a person being male, female or another non-binary state. It is also broad enough to encompass the idea that a person’s ‘sex’ can be changed.”

FMD. The world we live in.

FMD. The world we live in.
Yeah - people who can't accept that their ideas about sex and gender are not current, and are unwilling to at least try and keep up.

Another piece on the ruling not written by someone paid to platform transphobes for clicks

They didn't just want to exclude trans women

they wanted to exclude bisexual women, they also needed an exemption from anti discrimination laws to do that

which was not granted, oh and the law hasn't been changed recently either its been in place for a decade in its current form to strengthen support for LGBTQI+ people
