Not sure if this has been done before.. but have you ever noticed certain terms and phrases that become seemingly appear that you havent' heard used before, then either become high use or disappear, or come and go?

I don't particularly know if I had heard the term 'strawman' before the past 2 weeks but I reckon I've now seen it used over a dozen times across BF in the past couple of weeks.

Is there any others you can think of?

'On fleek' was a thing for a hot minute there a few years ago

The concept of a strawman has been around for quite a while, albeit in a narrow context - maybe it's a case of Baader-Meinhof syndrome (or spending more time in SRP)

"Gaslight"

More people have been gaslighted in the past 12 months than all of the preceding human history, it seems

I've noticed, particularly in the COVID thread, so many posts starting with "I mean,"

Just an observation

Term comes from a movie from the 40s (which is pretty unknown).

Id say the last 3-4 years its gained traction in the popular vernacular but its got some history.
it got used in MAFS and now everyone "knows" it

doesn't hurt that we get almost daily examples of how it works from multiple members of Australian Governments

Unusually high amount of people starting sentences withy "So"...
Sometimes this is correct and appropriate.
Not in the cases I'm hearing.
